I just seen in a picture of a 300ex with a kick start i always wondered why they had them filled hole type things on the right side of the motor towards the top backend of the motor how much does it cost for this and where can i get it does the 250x have the kick start is that why u can get it on a 300ex? if the 250x does have a kick start can i just take the right side casing on the motor and mount the 250x right side casing on???

It was probably a 250x with 300ex plastic.

i agree with 300exazzkikr it problably was a 250x. i tried do that mod to my 300ex last year and it was a waste of riding time and money.i went and bought all the stuff to do it with. installed it all and when i went to put it all together suprise suprise. they changed the oil pumps. the 250x case don't fit. but don't give up all hope. if you know a darn good guy at a machine shop i would imagine they could take out the 2 little plug piece's where the kicker shaft and the decompression shaft lever come out of the case.i mean there's already an outline there. but i imagine that would be pretty pricey. the parts you need would be. a decompression lever cable, a new head for the valve decompression lever. gears and springs for the kick starter. and the shafts for the kicker and decompression lever on the case. plus the coresponding gaskets and bushing needed. but if you want to do it the easy way get a 250x motor and put a 300ex jug on it! that would be the easiest. thats all i know i hoped i helped as much as i could

To make a 250x into a 300 you would need the crank from a 300ex the jugs are the some, they just changed the stroke on the crank to bring the cc's up. You also need the head cover, not the hole head. There is a guy on hear that had this done to a 300ex I'm not sure who it was but he said it wasn't that hard to do. I'll see if I can find the post.

No the 300ex has the same head as the 250x. The valves were really undersized for the 250x and way undersized for the 300ex, thats way a good port job and enlarged valves makes a big differance on the 300. You can take the complete top end off of a 250x(piston,jug,head and head cover) and put it on a 300ex you will have the same set. only differance in the top end is the head cover has a valve decompression lever.

why would u want a kick starter, your going back to old technology. thats one less mechanism you have to worry about failing.

Inm y experience Kick start has been MUCH more reliable that electric, if you ever have had an electric problem and couldnt start your quad you know what Im talking about, it makes you want a kick start more than your left nut....

I have a pick of this quad that was 4 sale on here a while ago, its a 300EX, bored out to a 412, a member named Kat400EX owned it I believe, she said she had the kick starter machined in, yes i KNOW that you cant see the kick in the picture, but its on this quad
