Any tricks to getting this thing out? I've tried everything and the sawsall is starting to look like the only option. I've broke the bolt loose and it spins fairly easily but will not come out no matter what. I have been using penatrating oil for the last couple of days to see if thats ever going to help.

If you can beat it out, you have to use a torch to heat it or cut it a part.

Ive tried forcing it with a 5lb sledge. Havent tried the heat yet though. I think im going to have to cut it

Air Hammer to give it a little vibration to break the scale loose around the bolt!:)

This works wonders on it.

Thats another good idea. Heat is out of the question because of all the penetrating oil I've used.

We're resorting to cutting it out. What have you guys used for doing this?

we had to torch out 400exider707's. We tried everything, hammers, impacts, heat, torch is the only way.

Well shes basically out after 6 hours grinding. Everyone go out and put anti-seize on. I know I will everytime I change the oil at least.

How long was urs in there?
I haven't touched mine in 2 years, sounds like something I need to pop out and grease if it isn't already too late lol.

Yes. I did mine the day I brought the quad home when it was new. Now I do it once a year.

Mine was in there a little over a year I would say. The problem is they seize to the metal sleeves. We had an air impact spinning the bolt, while heating it and hitting it with the hammer at the same time.... wouldn't budge. I wouldn't beat on it too hard either I was worried about cracking the cases. We torched it out. The one I put in is molycoated now!

yeah... on my 400ex it was seized in there and she was a B1TCH to get out! Took about 8 solid hours of my dad and I pounding the crap out of it with a sledge and air chisel while turning it with an impact, soaking it in WD40, heating it with a torch and a whole slew of other things.

There was no way this was coming out without being cut out. Its getting anti-seize every oil change for sure.

The pivot bolt should really be a part of regular maintenance, we've all learned the hard way, very few people actually notice it until they have to go through what we all went through. I got one with a moly coating on it. Supposed to resist sezing a whole heck of a lot more. So far so good, but I dont take chances with it anymore, I take it out every so often and re-grease it.

I know what you guys are talking about. I have an 04 and it was never taken out until recently when I was getting the motor done. I kep spraying it with penetrating oil and I beat on it for about an hour before I got it out. I covered it in grease and antiseize so hopefully next time it wont be a problem. Good luck.

Send it to Pappy and have him Molycoat it. You shouldn't have anymore problems after that. I can push mine out with a finger.

Its been about 3 for me I guess. About a year ago I finally got smart and decided to try and take it out to put anti-seize on it but there was no way it was coming out. I knew it would have to be cut out evenutally

All this talk about it being seized made me go check mine, luckily it came out with a few wacks of the hammer, never serviced it since new in 8/05, but i will be sure to remove it now and then and check it. I don't know if this matters but i always WD-40 my motor and that area after i wash it, but i think there are seals on the cases and swinger? so i dont know if it penetrates that area or not.

Its a good routine to do. I know I've learned my lesson. Basically what happens is the pivot bolt seizes up on two collars and then the bolt has to be cut and taken out from the inside of the swinger.
