New 400ex (Opinions)

Just picked up a 2001 400ex last weekend... in mint shape...
everyone told me they were slow and stuff... but all those people who said that road it and said they loved it haha..
so me and my dad split the price and now i have like 400 to put into it....

it is absolutly stock

I orderd these parts

Nacs throtle
Nacs case saver
Billet gas cap
Bars
Grips
Seat and gripper cover
Tether

all for 145 shipped....

and now i am gonna order a HMF slip on... im thinkin black maybe
and then nerfs...
(that will do me for now)

and aventualy.. get new rear tires, bumper, head pipe, skids... Please tell me what u think of it

thanks man... we looked at a 2003 kfx 400 that day and he wants 2500 so we said f that, and we looked at a 2003 z 400 and he wanted 2700 and it was junk... needed break pads, clutch cable, WORK lol this one came with all new break pads, oil filter and some chain lub

To keep the new break pads longer you may want to invest in a parking brake block off...

ok lol now u got my history...

im 13, i am 5'9 and weigh 180

i had a pw 80 dirtbike to start

then got a kx 60 and raced it

then moved up to a rm 80 and raced that alittle

then i got a 01 250 ex and loved the 4 poke

then i sold it and got a junk blaster and didnt like it

and i love snow sleds haha... gettin a new f6 prolly this winter...

and yea i am experienced lol

I haven't priced them in awhile but becareful paying more than $10-12+ shipping/handling unless you want a foofoo one. It shouldn't cost much more than a couple of dollars for S/H

The stock unit is notorious for wearing out pads early due to improper adjustment.

if i was you i woulda went with the 450 cus i was in the same boat and ive regreted it since. but 400s are bullet proof. the hmf was the best choice but i wouldnt go with the colored. ur payin like 40 bucks for paint. its a waste

aah thanks man.. .i was just tryin to think of what color HMF to order tammorow haha...

and dood i would rather sae my 1500 bucks by buyin this one... cuz im 13 and cant really get a job... exept for washing dishes or cooking at my parents restarant.. which is wonderfull pay, but they cant really fit me in on the schedule do to school and stuff...

but i cant find a cheap HMF they are all like 220 shipped...colored and stainless

good luck with your 400 mine looked just like yours a couple months ago when i bought it now it has +2 a arms , carb mods, 440 kit on the way ,xhaust and more stuff just kkeps on comin i dont know why :p

go with the yellow pipe, my buddy has one on his 03 yellow ex and it looks awesome.

i had the black on my 440 and liked it, and now i have the black chrome on my kfx450. black will at least go with any color plastic you were to choose.

400ex's are alot of fun! I just bought my 2nd one a couple of weeks ago, 2004 for $2600 bone stock like yours. Now here it is!:devil: Not pictured is brand new razr's all the way around.
