recently i did a bearing change to the rear end of my z , wouldn't ya know something would go wrong, twisted the large bolt off . I'm kinda glad it broke were it did ,i hate to think how much trouble it would of been had it been much higher on the bolt. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f9/cataway/3-28-2007LS298.jpg

Why would it have been any more trouble? It only threads into the bottom plate. If it broke higher up on the bolt, you still would have been able to pull it out just as easily.

Those are infamous for breaking due to over torquing. Did you use an impact to put it on?

exacly the same thing happen to me, the best thing to do is cut off the square nuts and get some 8 grade bolts and braise them on the plate and there u go good to go i did if for both plates and what really helps put some antiseize
