i have heard powder-coating chips off 2. i think using auto paint would work well and be alot cheaper. i'm thinking about painting my a arms so let us know how they turn out.

if you get quality PC then itll hold up. but if you get a crap PC then itll chip. i dont think you can PC the stock a-arms either because you cant get the bushings or something out and theyll melt in the oven

You can't PC the stock arms cuz they dont have removeable balljoints they'll just burn up.

Good powdercoating doesnt chip. I have stock a-arms, and they're powdercoated. Yes, it takes a lot of time to be able to powdercoat a arms with the ball joints in there, but you have to be careful. Mine are doing fine, and they've been done for over a year now.

After about one year of having spray painted it, It has held up much better then I thought it would.

Only spot it has gone off is the bottom pretty much.

hey, sorry it took so long to respond. ive been gone for a week. anyway, i have a few threads on things i have painted and they all basically say that i completely tore down whatever i was painting, cleaned it off so it was spotless, and then used a 220 grit sandpaper to give the paint something to stick to, then i painted. i used regular rustoleum in gloss black for the frame. i ended up putting on about 8 coats of paint with 4ish coats of gloss clear coat (also by rustoleum) and i finished with a thin layer of the black again. if you take you're time and let it dry between each coat it'll hold up very well. dont listen to people who say it wont hold up as im guessing none of them have even tried this, or they didnt take their time, therefore yielding poor results. i know, not everybody has money to burn.

skid plates are awesome but deffinately add on a lot more weight. If you do a lot of trail riding where there are stumps or anything its nice to know that your protected. Also with skid plates you can water cross really easy, I tried it out last week just 3rd gear on the 400ex and you skip across the water.
