So I have a buddy that I have grown up riding with, he just got done building a 686 raptor, with pipe, cam, filter. But he kept telling me how bad he was going to stomp me, so I tuned the old 440 up, and went out on the 300' drag strip, and wow, I blew his doors off, by like 5 lenghts. He is as good of rider or better than me, and I weigh 20 lbs. more, I know the raptor weighs more but still, so we went and set up a loner drag, like 700', and still 5-6 lenghts, we switch bikes, he beat me by more when he is riding mine. Is therre something wrong here, or are raptors not as fast as I thought, I thought for sure I was going to get may ***** handed to me?

You may have an especially strong EX. Sounds like that Raptor isn't running like it should though. Tuning problem maybe?
A worked-over Raptor 660 is capable of being very strong. The drag races and dyno runs I've seen of Rap660's with pistons, cams, and related work have always leaned to the side of impressive rather than disappointing.

tire size, sprockets, rpm's and gearing... those control your speed, the other stuff just helps with your acceleration.

I've experianced the same thing. My friends brother has a 660 and my 416 would eat him up drag racing and hill climbing. Come to find out one of his carbs was frozen and not supplying fuel. Once he got that fixed it was like racing a totally different machine. I still get him, but that's more because of his riding ability, not his machine.

it seems to run good, maybe he is geared way down?

660 rappys are pretty tall geared stock

Im thinking he is off on his tuning somewhere.

drag race a couple other atv's and see if yours is extra fast or
his is not up to par.
