yeah, last night i jumped these railroad tracks with my escort going a little of 40mph. i've jumped them before so it was no big deal. when i landed it bottomed out now it makes this horrible screeching noise underneath the motor. it runs fine and havn't noticed anything else wrong besides the noise. when i accelerate it's fine but when i let of the gas or brake it's horrible. it's even worse when i'm stopped at a stop light or something. i looked under the car while it was running and didn't notice anything visibly wrong. but, then again i know practically nothing about cars. anyone have ANY idea of what's wrong? i'm soo scared to tell my parents cause i wasn't supposed to be out last night...so i'm just gonna say that i drove into my friends driveway wayyy too fast and bottomed out..same thing right? lol.

How hard did you land? I did the same crap in my sisters old cavalier and ****ed up the rod bearings.

i landed pretty damn hard. i'm just glad that the escort is my crap car too, but i'm still gonna get in trouble. i'll just say that i'll pay for whatever needs to be fixed :(

stick with ur second story and say you went into a drive way and scraped the bottom. no need to tell them about the jumping incident. its not good to lie, but i wouldnt recommend jumping it again. you know youll catch the typical your a f ing idiot crap. so just learn from your mistake the first time.

i wish i had got it on video haha. i called my dad at work and told him and he was really pissed and then he called back later and didn't seem that mad so maybe it won't be too bad after all.

Did you look underneath it yet? I would check out that oil pan because it would be one of the first things to hit if you landed funny. Hope it all works out for you.

trying to beat a train?? Makes it sound like you didn't succeed, but then again, you wouldn't be here. haha

This is what you got to do.

1. Find a heavy object (a weight, rock, brick, etc.)
2. Get in your Escort.
3.Drive to the nearest cliff, lake, or gaint bolder.
4. Park your car about 100 ft from the cliff, lake, or bolder.
5. Get all your belongings out the car.
6. Get a video camera.
7.Put the heavy object on the accerlator.
8.Throw the car in Drive.
9. Film that $hit cause we wanna see.
10. After that i dont care what you do, just have fun.

Haahaha...thats awesome. My friends and I hit a jump in a Saturn at about 70-80. We landed SOOOOO hard and the car was done. The front was busted up, the suspension was toast, and the car threw a rod lol. The kid's parents weren't too happy.... Anyway, check any exhaust heat shields. Where I work, that is the most common thing to go. It will sit on your exhaust pipe and just rattle all day.

I'd check the exhaust shields too.

My buddy has an old POS 89 escort, we jumped it over some nasty tracks, anyways we landed and it started making a nasty noise. Anyways he didn't care drove it for months like that because the car was a pile anyways. Well he was at my house one day and I popped the hood, I started looking around and the bolts for the motor mount broke haha, the whole left side of the engine was sitting on the front sway bar or something hahahaha. We jacked up the engine and I fixed it. There is hope, the car might not be totally done for haha.

The worst is being in the bed of your friends 2500hd, and him hitting tracks at about 50. Thought I broke my *** bone.

I said *** bone, not tail bone. And I meant it.

Something like that happened near me. Couple kids jumped the tracks and ended up kissing a tree. Neither was wearing a seat belt, both were thrown from the car and killed. I still dont think they know who was driving.

all i have to say is once you loose 2 of your bestfriends from the same car accident, it teaches you a lesson not to do stupid chit in a car, and id rather be going slow and getting somewhere late then rushing for anything....
