dude, if you cant kick start a 'R, maybe you shouldnt be riding it.
:D

however, if your talking about, oh say a 500R zilla, then maybe I could use some assistance in getting that MOFO started...

its not that i cant start it, but i ride alot of trails and i rode a 400ex, its so nice when u stall and just push a button to be going again.... instead of standing up and kicking it 1-3 times and busting ur shin and everything...

That's not a kit for adding a starter to a non electric start engine. It's a replacement starter. I'm guessing that is a mis-listing that applies to the TRX250X, not the TRX250R.

o, i thought if i bought it i could wire it in and wala...but idk i might trade my R for a 400ex.. there pretty much = power

250x does not have an electric start and cannot have one added easily. The cases are no where similar to the 300ex when it comes to the electric start. It would be as easy to add one to an r as it would be a 250x. But you probably know this.

Great point. I guess I do know that the 250X is kickstart only, but I sure wasn't thinking about that in my first post! :( Something seems screwy with those RM listings....either way it certainly appears the listings are just for starter motors, not electric start conversion kits.

FWIW, don't worry about the senseless bashing some sling at the idea of selling a 250r for a 400ex. I know plenty of people who would ultimately be happier on a 400ex.

if the starter like slides righ in somewhere (like a cover comes off or somthing) then u dont really need a kit, a battery, the motor, and a swich:rolleyes: and a fuse

there's a lil more to it than that.

talk about kicking the hell outta a dead horse,
,go out and look at your R and you come back and tell us how you would mount the starter to the kickstart side of the engine ,

and how exactly you would be able to ride it with a starter sticking out 7 inches from the side ,thats why the kicker swings in,

you need a selinoid, flexplate, battery, wires ,a starter button ,and a place to mount the starter from the engine and have your side cover seriously modified ,
I am sure you would be happier on a 400ex if your concerned with your shin

You take advice well, your really quite chipper about it. Really makes a guy wanna respond to a guys post when he asks questions.

In any case, no, no one has mounted THIS STARTER on an R engine, simply because it is a misprint. I'm not saying an electric starter has never been done before, because lets face it, there's always somebody out there who's tried anything once. But I highly doubt you'll find him on this site, if he even exists. If you want electric start, buy a four stroke. Case closed.

IF there was a kit for the 250R it would look similar to the shown installed on the 450R. This was pre 450ER.

I think Honda made a TRX250 in those years. It was NOT the 250X, or the 250R. It was a Utility quad, later re-designed and became the Recon. It was indeed electric start.

Not bashing you but buy riding boots(You will never bash your shin!) and set your r up so it isn't stalling! case solved and you still have the best quad with the most modding options available:D A 400EX WAS NEVER A COMPARABLE REPLACEMENT FOR THE ALLMIGHTY "r"

i have riding boots but rarly wear them... i only wear my helm... and ushally sneakers or work boots, its just easyer...

its just the forward kick is so dumb, when ur boot/sneaker is wet and u slip off the back it kicks back up and wack...

I dont understand the problems with your R. If you take your time, set your foot, rotate the motor to that spot where it kicks easy and then give it a good kick your R should start right up after its warmed up from riding. You shouldnt slip even if you have bacon grease slathered all over your boots/shoes. I can start My R with flip flops on with no problem. The R is so easy to start and you should freshen up the motor if its so hard to start before something goes wrong with it and it costs a bunch of money to fix when something goes wrong. People make fun of you because you seem to come off a little whiney. A motor as easy as an R is to start doesn't need anything on it to make it easier to start. My little brother can start my R sitting on it, not even standing up.

mines high enough compression that u can stand on the kicker and it barely moves... takes a he11-of-a kick to get it started, and if it backfires just a bit the kicker does slip, ive got some shin scars from it. i can see why sumone use to like a blaster or banshee and their butter soft kicks would think it was a lot of work. but you do get use to it and it might even build up some muscle in the scrony leg of yurs.

Geez what kinda motor size and compression do you have? My motor is just a 250 with 180psi.

my motor makes 230 psi and it quite easy to start, I can't sit down and start it, but its not hard to kick. It also starts in 2-3 kicks. Seriously, they don't want to start when the reeds are worn, that and a pair of riding boots is the first thing I would buy.
