Simply put the engine will be out of time. It could be hard starting it. It definately will run different the valves will be opening and closing at the wrong time, if you are out more than one tooth either way i would say it probably wont start period. It would be hard to get an ex out of time the cam gear is marked all you have to do is set the timing marks at top dead and slip the gear into the chain line the three marks up with one mark straight up and the horizontal lines should be level with the top of the head, then put the cam into place tighten the top cam bolt rotate 180 install the other cam bolt, install the chain tensioner spin the motor over back to the timing marks and the lobes on the cam should be facing down. Pretty easy job.:D
