sparks timming key/msdignition?

i have a msd ajustible ignition and i can advance and retard the timming with it would this be the same as a sparks timming key?

Basically, yes. The Sparks key will advance the timing everywhere while the MSD ignition allows you some control over where (rpm) and how much you want the timing advanced.
