i have thought about this for a while soi finally made the decision to sell some of my 450r stuff and get a grizzly. i am competative on a 450 and i love racing it. but i have always thought i could manhandle a ute around a track pretty well.

the ute racing scene is exploding right now and some of the equipment is out of this world fast and well handling compared to the quads of 5-10 years ago. it looks like a blast so i want to give it a try.

here are some pics of the bike i picked up yesturday. also pictured is the diamond back truck cover that i am now a dealer for. i got so many looks with my bike up ontop of that thing yesturday. it worked GREAT. i had the bed full cause i was going on vacation when i bought this but i could still put a bike on it. the ramps worked out really well and i wasn't nervous putting the bike up or down them at all.

unloading was actually pretty easy. i was nervous but the ramps being so long made it very easy.

now here are some of the bike. my only mods i have planned right now are the omf beadlocks i got off ebay for CRAZY cheap. with all trak maxxis tires on them. a set of rox risers and a set of flexx bars. i am planning on trying the stock class in the GNCC for the rest of the year. if the suspesnion won't take it i might move up to the modified class and get some suspention, tireballs and an exhaust.

ill get better pictures next week cause all i have is my crappy camera with me now.

My buddy has a blue 700 as well, pretty sweet bike. I bought a King Quad at the same time, you can roll with these bikes. Maybe its because I'm used to the KQ, but the Griz. bars have a weird feel to them. Power steering is cool though.

omf beadlocks, fasst bars, rox risers, maxxis all trak tires, removed the racks and building/buying nice big beefy bumpers, ricochet skid plates, powermadd star guards with wraps, oury grips, and a uni filter and i think this beast is ready to race.

i am also welding some rath racing footpegs to my new foot plate i made so that that area is more stable. before it was very bendy cause of all the plastic. now it doesn't move. ill get better close up picks of that later.

*******i am putting blue guards on later this week when they come. they came black and i wanted blue so i sent them back. these were just laying around in the garage. ***********

i still have 2 of my 450r's. but they won't be set up for mx. i am going back to all xc. i am not comfortable on an mx track and i don't want to push it. i can do it. but i have had a few close ones and really don't need to make it a good crash.

that thing is sick, i had a buddy who had a grizzly 660 decked out for xc racing, he stripped it to the frame and put it back together as a full xc racer. it was sweet.

Congrats Greg. Been wondering what was up with you...haven't seen you at Breezewood in awhile. Was just telling Dan we need a "Where are they now" section on his website.

Can you load two quads on the cover from the side?

yes you can. i haven't installed the side loading bars but they are the same as the rear loading bars.

Hey Greg,

Is there much difference in how your truck handles with the quad higher in the air, compared to in the bed? By the way Ute looks good.

haha. fun on free ride days sometimes. but not during a race when i am trying to keep my goggles clean and my hands dry. :p

and then there are those muddy cold days at the beggining and end of every season that staying dry is a premium.

i noticed very little difference in the handling from loading in the bed and then loading on the cover. the key was having the suspension of the bike sinched down with straps. if you let the bike bounce and only had the wheels locked down it would be a lot worse.

i go no slower in curves/onramps and such now then i did with a fully loaded bed before.

What are we looking at $$$$ wise for a cover like that?
