im looking to get some meaty tires for my 400ex that is great for mud and big hill climbing what should i get?

I would goto www.rockymountainatv.come and check out there meaty mud looking tires. The mud sharks are the lowest profile meaty tire(21in tire for 9in rim). ITP HD's are good for that too. Kenda Knarlys are great. Just check it out and see what ya like. When i'm going riding when its sloppy muddy I run my kenda trakkers and they work well. It sends a hell of a roost too.:D

itp has mudlites made for sport bikes, i wouldnt get them but i thought it was pretty cool

Maxxis Razr 2's all around, 6 ply will resist puncturing like no other, and the tread will work awsome on rocks, mud, sand, snow, dirt and everything else you can throw at them.

Mud sharks are terrible, they ball up very easy. I would look at an XC type tire like suggested. I've heard great things of razr 2s though Ive never tried them. Kenda knarly XC's would probably be the tire I bought.
