I was thinking that it would make sense, really there no more dangerous then a bike would be on the street. So does anyone know what the laws are in Michigan about doing this?? Is it even possible?? I know there are some states that allow quads, what makes Michigan different?? Thanks I'm just kind of exploring the idea. Any valid input would be great.

Yep, AZ does. I have a friend with a street legal Raptor 700.

Quads don't handle very well on the road though--they take don't turn especially well. With no open or limited slip rear end I've always found it takes a fair amount of steering effort to maintain an arc. Their light weight and comparatively high center of gravity for their width certainly doesn't help with "tipsiness" either. I'm sure supermoto suspension would help that a lot. I'm not saying have a quad street legal is a bad idea--my next quad will be--but I'd say a motorcycle is far better on the road.

Here's a buddy and I on a dual sport ride. 90%+ of this 200 mile, all-day ride was on the dirt, but we couldn't have done it without plates.

Yes, up in Mio / South Branch area its legal. They have allowed it now because they have so many trails up there and want to increase tourism, i was up last a few days ago its nice seeing quads on the road i was sick of people downing quads yet letting snowmobiles ride on the road.

So yes in some areas its legal.

Yeah I know its legal to go from trail to trail in Michigan, liek a snowmobile. GP pretty much figured out what stops them in Michigan the lack of an open diff. I did alittle more research about Michiagn and thats the first and major thing that stops it. :(

Just talking smack infantry, I have a friend that lives just outside of Hutch. North of it on the highway that goes to St. Cloud. I still think with gas prices the way that they are it would only make sense for people to look at making them legal. IMO there just as dangerous as a street bike, or am I way off???? (With responsible people on them that is)

Sooner the better, I will try and talk with some bacon to see if ZI can find out if they know of any loopholes?? Worth a shot. But it will be tough to get it through the DMV with the do not register for street use print on it.:(
