250x/350x quad, no spark issue

Hi all, I am just finishing this project and had the motor running, but the kill switch did not work so i had to choke it to death, anyway after finally getting it out of the garage and riding it around a bit, i shut it off by choking it and then it would not start. Looks like it has no spark. What i am wondering is can i use a 88 250x cdi to test if its the cdi? are they interchangable? i have seen some hot cdi's for 300ex, would 1 of them be a good choice if i need to get another cdi for this 350x motor?

well im 99% sure you need to use the 350x cdi and im positive the 300ex cdi wont work,

about the spark issue.. if the kill switch your talking about is aftermarket i would look at it because they seem to be notorious for causing no spark issue, or if not it could be a bad ground somewhere...

also when you try to start it what does it do.. clicking.. nothing.. buzzing???


and if its cranking over.. you may have fouled a plug

Thanks for the feedback. I actually have the plug out of it, testing for spark, I am at least that smart. what baffles me is i did nothing to the wiring, only unplugged and replugged 2 or 3 connectors, thinking maybe there was a bad connection. On these old guys there is no electric start, and no key switch, just the off/run/off button, which is a 350x part, i think, or 300ex, somewhere i read if you use a 300ex or 250x contol switch, the off is actually run,,but when it ran, the run/off/run switch did nothing.

So i am still waiting to hear some TS'ing ideas????
