450r rear shock on 400ex

No. The 450 rear shock is shorter. The linkage is different as well.

it will fit, but its not worth it the 400ex shock is better fit for the 400ex

I have 450r front and rear shocks on my 400ex. The rear 450r shock I have is actually 1/4" longer than than the 400. I like the 450r shock a lot better than the 400. The height of the machine is a half in shorter in the back while using a 450r rear shock.
