I'm still in the process of overhauling my 2000 300. I was thinking of getting the new style Maier custom 300ex plastics, but was wondering if I could just buy OEM Honda plastics instead? Not sure which route I'm going yet though, just doing some research before I go out spending more money, lol.

I'm pretty sure you can, however, I think, it would require you to get a new fuel tank, and the different OEM mounting brackets.

If im not mistakin, 300ex oem plastic cost alot more than the maier plastic does because the oem is made in japan. I think

i just priced all that stuff last week and its coast like $1,100 to put the new 08 plastic on a older bike. i am not shear but i think the take cover will go over the old tank. Dose anyone know that for shear.

yeah the tank is still the same, it just uses a cover that goes over the entire thing for the new one

pretty neat. i looked into this myself a little bit back and it rang up to about 800 without little odds and ends parts. (little mounts and stuff)

in a couple months maier will prolly come out with them so then it would be a lot cheaper and you could choose what color you want it to be.

yea if i were you i would go towards the maier route because

$420.00 beats 1000 or more,

not to mention the newer ones will be a pain in the @ss to install, not to mention you will have a big hole in the side fender for reverse or you will have to buy some kind of relocator kit if they even make one...

just my 0.02

Ya, OEM plastics are rediculously overpriced. I just like the newer style plastics over the older ones. I think I'll still be going to with the Maier Custom Cut plastics. I can get the complete kit through my work for under $330. I guess I'm just worried about Maiers quality. I know Fullbore is better, but they just dont have a good style for the 300 yet. I just dont want to buy the Maiers and have the color fade quickly, or them feel floppy, etc. I've heard some stories, lol, guess they have me worried :( Will find out eventually, lol

When I bought my wifes 2007 300ex I got a price on the black plastics and they were know where near a grand. I think somewhere around 400 maybe more or less. I might sell the red ones soon and by her a new set of white ones.

not unless they're giving you some sort of deal. if you look on servicehonda's oem part finder, i'm pretty sure just the rears are almost 400

did you buy the maier custom fenders that make the 300 look like the 450r because maier doesnt make the "new" 08 style 300ex plastics yet.
