last night i cracked my swing arm on the track,

and now im trying to figure out if i can make this work:

i want to use a 400ex swinger which i know will work with a few spacers, what i am concerned about is can i use the 400ex swinger with a 01 raptor shock, because i do not want to buy a 400ex rear shock and weld on a bracket for the linkage,

and also what will it take to use my stock axle, i know the 300 carrier is too narrow for the 400ex carrier, so my guess would be a 250r or 400ex carrier but i dont know whether my axle would fit into the carrier

please help me out, i have searched for hours and cant find what i need

i believe you can use a 450r swingarm with no problems, and not spacers

well i know i can use the 450r,400ex, and the 350x, swinger

i just need to know wether or not it will work with a 01 raptor shock, i belive it will because people use no link rear shocks on the 400's all the time

and i need to know what carrier will i have to use in the 400/450r swinger so i can use my axle

ok after alot of searching, measuring and talking to people, i have figured out i can use a raptor shock with a 400/450 swinger,

now my only concern is what carrier will i have to use so i can make my 300ex axle work in a 400 swingarm?

How long is the raptor shock? If its not long enough the quad will sit super low. Matter of fact I used my old shock to keep my 250x a roller when I put a 450r swing on. Way to low to even ride.

not sure how long the raptor shock is

i know its longer than the stock shock,

but i've seen people use the raptor rear with plus 2 swing arm so i would imagine it will work on a 400ex swing arm

ok, heres the plan

i will be using these parts

400ex swinger
400ex stock axle
400ex carrier
2001 raptor rear shock (i hope)

other than that i should only need a 400ex brake caliper bracket

so what do you guys think????

sounds like it would work out. you mine as well use the 400ex carrier in the 400ex swinger with the 400ex axle.. it would fit better than rigging parts that aren't supposed to fit together.

The raptor shock is a little shorter than a stock 300ex shock is. My 300ex sat lower with my raptor shock with my stock swingarm.

thanks for the input...

i think the raptor shock will work as long as i adjust the preload collar all the way down...

and yea i think its better to use a complete 400 rear end also.. i was digging around and i found one so i figured what the hell...

any chance you guys know how long the 400 swinger is?

i think it should be a real nice set-up with the swinger and longer axle

yea ill do that...

it should be like 2 weeks :(

i already sent a money order for a black 400 swinger, i have the axle, and all that stuff.. all i need to buy is a carrier, caliper bracket.. and rear brake line... but who needs brakes anyway :p

um a plus 2 300ex swinger is A LOT different than a 400ex The shock mount point on the plus 2 is at the same excact spot as the stock one. the 400ex is going to be very far back. The shock will wanna sit at like a 30 degree angle to the quad.

yea i didnt mean to sound liek a dck or anything. Just wanted to let you know. Just get the 450r rear setup. Welding a tab for the linkage is no problem at all.

no i didnt think you were being a d1ck..i appreciate the help..

well i already have most of the 400ex rear end,, and i dont really want to buy another rear shock....

i think i might have an idea if the rear sits to low with the raptor shock though :eek2:

oh,, exactly how much longer is the 400ex rear end compared to the 300..

thanks for the input steve

ok swinger came in today,,,,

but as i figured there is no way to use the stock shock...

but i have an idea i took of the raptor shock.. put on the stocker because it is longer. and i have some extra brackets from a diamond j customs front shock relocator, so i figured id take 4 and put em' together bolt one end to the shock mount and one to the shock its self so it would almost be like a linkage and i know they will hold up

sorry to post this.. but i needed to think out loud :huh

i will get pics here soon... i know my quads been sitting too long because its starting to grow grass....
