Its invalid because this thread is 3 years old. Its been a hell of a project. Well worth the effort, money, fustration and quality time spent with a great friend. Nothing is powder coated yet but were almost there. If I could only get him to update. I'm on here with my phone...can't up load pics

Ok, so this was pretty much the start of the project 2+ years ago. Was a stock 400ex to begin with. I went with the 400ex chassis because it is not big like the typical Banshee or Raptor frame usually used in these builds. The frame had to be modified to accept the 05 GSX-R 750 engine and throttle bodies. :eek2:

All of the work put into this machine has either been done by myself or Jerry (TRX750GSXR). Jerrry is responsible for all of the fab/metal work that has been done to it to date.

Because of how tight the engine is into the chassis the upper rear mount had to be made removable so the engine can be installed in and out...

WeTDrEaM
07-14-2010, 12:04 PM
the lower part of the frame had to be dropped out and the upper had to be opened up to accept the throttle bodies coming through...

i love speed and power how hard is this build honestly?? and about how much money would it cost a normal "joe" to do this build?

trx750gsxr
07-19-2010, 04:48 AM
Depends on if the normal Joe can machine, weld and fabricate.....if not I would say in between 6,000 and 8,000. Not sure

trx750gsxr
07-19-2010, 04:49 AM
It wasn't that hard of a build for us. My buddy Danee (wetdream) knows his stuff. For a "normal Joe" it may be hard.....

when i said normal joe i meant like on a normal joe budget i already have a 400ex rolling chassis and i know how to weld and i work in a machine shop so the i know plent about mechanics etc. but thanks for reply so would it be easier to put a cbr 600 motor or r6 motor in 400 chasis or would it be about same diffculty?? i figured a 600 would be smaller so there wouldnt be as much trouble with fitment i know i will still have to cut and weld fram etc but just wondering if you knew if a 600 motor would be easier?? cause i can get one from a buddy for really cheap (he was going to put one in a go kart lol)

Shouldn't be too bad.

Don't knw what ur plans are for an airbox or how that would work out for you. Were just coming off the throttle bodies with k&n airfilters. Keep in mind that you must keep the drive sprocket in line with you rear axle set up.......good luck

looks good man, have you had it out ripping?

trx750gsxr
07-27-2010, 04:43 AM
No not yet. Gotta get a header made. And grab IP a few more accessories like the powercommander air shifter and tons of powder coat yet to be done

I hope this is intended for drag racing only. It appears that way with your tires and the fact that you kept it pretty narrow. I just think it would be a very poor combination for any other kind of riding

Your absolutely right. Grip and rip!

Nice work on the gas tank and fabbing :)
It's going to look bad*ss when it's all painted with visible frame and tank.

It has an awesome streetfighter look!

Thanks man. Its taken quite a bit of time. In the process of powder coat now. The gas tank was fun to build. Especially the mount for the fuel pump from the gsxr we started with. More pictures to come.
