Get

sparks or
HMF slip on with White brothers header

and the sparks pipe for the 300ex is a 1 piece full exhaust

i love my sparks pipe but it is a complete system not a slip on, the pipe/muffler are attatched, i think my sparks pipe is amazing, the bike has so much more on bottom end it is incredible, the midrange is a significant increase, but the top is no noticable increase, but i use bottom to mid most so the pipe is awesome for me.

If your 300ex has a 330 kit and your wanting to put a 340 on it then you will need a full exhaust like sparks or hmf. These both have big headpipes for all the gases youll be releasing.

i got a full dg right now butt want something diff. and i dont have a 330 i was gunna do a 330 but couldnt find a 30 over piston as cheap as i did a 40 over piston.

TC and sparks x4(race version) are the loudest I've heard. I have the sparks x4 with the spark arrestor/disks and it is still really loud. The DG and cobra pipes aren't far behind. Do yourself AND the sport a favor and stay away from the loudest ones...it's the number one reason riding areas (and back yard tracks) are getting shut down.

this is for my raceing bike, not the one i ride around

I see. You still want to watch...more and more racing circuits are putting restrictions on sound. Either way it's not always the loudest pipe that makes the most power. DG and cobra pipes are very loud but almost every pipe on the market makes more power.

I would recommend the sparks x4 w/quiet core. You can always remove the quiet core when racing on tracks with no sound restrictions.

yea tc and the gt thunder shorty pipes are loud as hell,,,

but the sparks and hmf both make great power

Not to dissapoint.. but those pistons dont make a 330/340.

A "40 over piston" = +0.040" or 1mm larger diameter.

A 40 over is a 289. (stock is 282cc)

A 330cc requires an 80mm piston which is 6mm (0.240") dia larger than stock. It would be a "240 overbore"

Just don't want you to get the short end of the stick unknowingly.

well my motor builder told me that the 40 over piston would make it a 340 so i was just going by what he told me.

You may want to discuss it a little further with him. Either there was a miscommunication, or he doesn't quite know what he's talking about. Or a combination of both.

Also if you plan on racing, I'd check the local requirements. Some classes allow up to 350cc, others only allow 300cc.

A 297cc (true 300) motor is a screamer. If i were to do it again, i'd probably go that route. That's an 80 over piston (+0.080 / +2mm)

so a 300ex really isnt 300cc i think im starting to understand this stuff now, plzz keep telling me haha

TRX-330
08-09-2007, 10:25 AM
and ya i think my motor builder knows what he is talking about he's been building engines for over 8 years now. i think i just didnt understand what he was talking about haha

A 300ex is actually a 282cc if I remember right:ermm:

Just make sure to ask your engine builder a few more questions before you jump into anything. 8 years building atv/bike engines isn't that long. It might be worth the few extra $$ to send it out to a known reputable builder like GT thunder... since it's in Ohio it may not cost much to ship to him.

honda300EXtreme
08-09-2007, 11:05 AM
yea i would discuss this a little further into detail with your mechainic because if he tells you a .30 over = 330 and .40 = 340
your guarenteed troubles..

like said before,, since your in your engine you might as well go all out and get a 330/350 kit

fst sell a 330 kit for 295 + 8 shipping,

sparks sells a 345 kit (100 for the sleeve.. i think)

and gt thunder... well gt thunder will break your wallet

Correct.

A stock 300ex is 74mm bore x 65.5mm stroke = 281.56cc's

20 over (.020")= 74.5mm x 65.5mm = 285.38cc
30 over (.030")= 74.75mm x 65.5mm = 287.30cc
40 over (.040")= 75.0mm x 65.5mm = 289.22cc
80 over (.080")= 76.0mm x 65.5mm = 296.99cc
120 over (.120") = 77mm x 65.5mm = 304.85cc
160 over (.160") = 78mm x 65.5mm = 312.82cc
200 over (.200") = 79mm x 65.5mm = 320.90cc
240 over (.240") = 80mm x 65.5mm = 329.07cc

It's when you get into cams, oversized valves, headwork, etc.. that it starts getting expensive. ;) A decent amount of labor goes in porting a head right.

TRX-330
08-09-2007, 11:27 AM
ya he has been porting and polishing my head for a few days now. and im sorry i didnt word it right up there, he has building my engine for 8 years im not sure how long he has been doing it. we first started with him when i race go karts and have allways used him for w/e we race and have never had any problems, my last go kart i raced was 40 over and ran real good so i cant complain. butt thanks for all the info on the sizes i have allways wanted to kno that stuff.

bwamos
08-14-2007, 01:50 PM
It's a full system pipe.

And, I'm not sure if he even makes the shorty anymore since the newer dB requirements don't allow them to be run in most racing series' anymore.

TWISTED DINLI
08-14-2007, 02:41 PM
yea he still makes the shorty exhaust for the 300ex. its just not as loud as the 450's w/ the shorty exhaust.

Not sure cheap and sparks belong in the same sentence LOL... but C&D will probably be about the best deal since they give a discount to site members.
