well the 300ex caliper will work on the 400ex,

the front rotors will work also,

the only thing im not sure about is the rear brakeline because the 400ex swinger is longer and im not sure if it has enoguh slack,

unless im forgetting something, everything else will have to be for the 400ex specifly,

no problem, yes the rear caliper will work, but the brake pedal will not because there 2 different setups

okay, so exactly what all do i need? i bought my quad with absolutely no rear brakes.

i will need the caliper, rotor, pads, is there some kind of mounting brackets or anything? and will 300ex ones work or do i need the 400ex's

also what else is there? is it run by cable or hydraulic.. ill need a cable i assume? how about a master cylinder?

ok, im going to explain the REAR brake system so you'll know what you need,

theres a resivior that mounts on the subframe with a line that runs to the master cylinder which is near the pedal, then theres a line from the master cylinder to the caliper,

you should have a bracket on the right side of your swing arm which the caliper mounts to,

ill take some pictures tomorrow after work and post up what ive got going on.. theres some kind of bracket on the rear axle with 4 holes in it. but i dont think i have a master cylinder anywhere or a resevoir.

i just have the front one on the brake lever and lines going to the front, absoluetely nothing else

no the bracket on the right side should only have 2 holes in it, its kind of hard to explain without pics.

so get some pics and that will help me better explain it,

i would also think about a repair manual (trust me it will be your new best friend)

ok the bracket with 4 holes it for the rotor, and the bracket on the inside of that with 2 holes is for the caliper,

if i were you i'd take a look at the parts for sale section, theres a bunch of people parting out 400ex parts,

like i said

you'll need
rear rotor
master cylinder
rear brake line
caliper
and the resivior with line

thanks for the help :)

so the 300ex rotors will bolt on there no problem? k

and 300ex caliper

also the resivoir and master cylinder.

ill need the 400ex pedal and line?

yes the rotors will work,
and so will the caliper

i would just get the 400ex master cylinder and resivior to be safe,
and yes you need the 400ex pedal and rear line

so i would just look around here, you should be able to get everything pretty cheap
