I want to make a custom bumper for my king quad. What kind of aluminum should I buy that is fairly cheap, lightweight and strong.

needs to be easy to weld.

Not saying that you don't.....

But.... do you have any welding experience?.....Aluminum is an utter b!tch to weld.....let alone to weld right and strong

Be easier to go with a very thin walled steel

I have welded steel but never aluminum. But my friends dad is a welder for the last 30 years, he said just get it made and he will weld it up for me. So I have it covered.;)

6061 T-6 is pretty much the industry standard for aluminum.

Sure do. Bored at work. Went to the last page and just started replying to the stuff that no one ever really answered. Just trying to be helpful is all.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can form 6061 but you need a fairly big radius to keep it from cracking right? We always used 5052 (softer) for forming.

I would call Mickey Dunlap before building a custom bumper. He always manages to get nice bumpers for all his projects.
