With all the talk of building for next year got me thinking. Zachary will be moving to the 70 class.

So this 50 can be made into a 70? If so would it be the same as if it was manufactured as a 70.?

If it doesn't perform the same I would rather get him the 70 WC version.

I plan to put the long travel a arms and Elka's on it after the season as long as it can be converted to a 70 with no performance loss.

should not be a problem the 50 and the 70 both share the same bottom end so basicaly choose your 70 top end and go racing.

DRR5 is correct, but make sure to check your local rules....they may consider it a modified quad since you changed it from stock.

Everyone in our 70 class is running the liquid cooled versions of the DRX70.

If you can make a cylinder change then you can bolt on a watr cooled Metrakit cykinder and get a big performance increase!!

if your 50cc is an 07' later edition(oko carb), then it will convert to a very good 70cc. since most of us with a 70 will buy a cyl and head and a-arms and shocks anyway . you can buy same parts and have same bike , most 70cc classes are wide open for upgrades but like others have said make sure first.

Well got the 70 together and the keihin carb on and so far she is rippin. Landon said he like the fact that the throtle went easier and when he hit the jumps it brought the front end up more so he was either landing on the back tires or all four. Race today, that will be the big test. I will have more results for everyone later. oh ya going with stock clutch set first then see from there.

OK, so let's hear the parts used.
Where is the powerband at with that Airsal conversion?
Did you go WC or Air?

Went with the air cooled airsal T6 racing cylider, this is aneat cylinder the jug gets mounted first then you bolt on the head the head gasket is a rubber o ring (advance warning max head bolt torque is about 5 pounds do not atempt 10 pounds CYLINDER WILL BREAK AND IT DID !) Changed intake to the new style .went with the keihin 20mm carb. unconnected the oil pump lines and bolted on a 30t rear sprockt. Im running stock clutchs, Doesnt come off the line to well shifts up to quick so im going to try some 1500 springs and heavier rollers. imay do over the winter a metrakit wc conversion if it goes as good as every one says but havent seen any one talk about it to much yet .i think we need to start a post on this so i will. i will post more results later after more SOP DYNO testing

That's great.
We will finish out this season on the 50 and start with the conversion in December.

So you still have the rollers from the 50 in it? Quick, change the rollers it will make a world of a difference. I changed them on Cassidy's 90 and she said it was scary fast for her.

We had a race this weekend and she took off for practice, her first turn she went a little sideways, then hit the gas and she completely cleared the jump. It scared her for the rest of the day. But she said it was way faster.

Let me know.

what did you use. im going to try 4.3 on the rollers and 1500 on the clutch and the torsion

I would get the 4.0 and 4.5's. Try each of the sets then you can mix to see which one works best.

I did as Bulldog said. I paced off 200 yards and ran time trials with each set up. The fastest time was the set I went with. I mixed 4.5 and 5.0

The 90 is running real nice with 4.75

With your set up, you could probably run the 2000 clutch springs.

that airsal 70 kit is awsome!.. i installed one on a 50cc herchee engine with a pe20 carb 3.5 rollers.. 1500 little springs..2000 big spring.. 19 front and 28 rear..trinity pipe..it will smoke most 90's including the 07' drr 90 i bought.. ive put alot of time and money to get the 90 to beat it.. my wife and i will race around the block to see if i made progress on the 90 engine(my SOP dyno)
