motor help

i just purchased an 87 250x, it came w/ a whole other quad(250x)
but the motor for parts quad has been picked through, and i was wondering if i could send bottom end, cylinder and head somewhere and they could piece it all back together for me, for hi performance mods, how much would cost be(roughly), or would it benefit to do myself. curious so please help me out. thanks.

you would be better off doing it yourself,a lot of the shops dont like going through basket cases,they may do it but they usually give a high estimate to scare you off because they dont really want to do it in the first place.You could send the head out for porting or have a new rod installed on your crank etc.Its funner to out source any machine work such as cylinder boring and such and put it together yourself,plus you'll learn a bunch
