The Firebird and the Trans-Am are essentially the same car.

The First Generation Firebirds came in the base Firebird package, which was a OHC-6 car. The Firebird H.O. and 400 were V8 cars, and the Trans-Am was a substantially different package, mainly exterior wise, then the Firebird H.O.’s and 400’s

The Second Generation Firebirds came in the base model Firebird, which was pretty bare, including the Chevy 250 motor, or the later Buick V6. The Espirit was a bit more luxuried out then the base model, also had a few exterior goodies, and received a V8 for a certain amount of time, before going back to the Buick V6. The Formula was a substantial step up from that. It maintained the simple Firebird look, but had the top of the line Drivetrain setup. Lastly, the Trans-Am package was a substantial step up from the others, receiving many exterior changes. Although a Shaker hood was on the Formula for a bit, the Tran-Am was run fully with a Shaker hood, along with a list of other exterior features.

So, yes, they are the same car.......but not. ;)

If I were to build a car from that list, it would probably be a 1970 Charger, R/T Clone, of course. Not on that list, a 1970 Challenger R/T Clone :D

If you care, I'm actually starting a project now, finally picked up the car today. It's a 1967 Mustang Hardtop......For what I’d like to do, I wish it was a fastback, but it's still a decent looking car. Should be interesting, if I get it done.

None of those, if you want the best go out and find and restore a '70 or '71 Cuda! Just be prepared to pay two years salary just to find a rust bucket! The really nice restored Hemi Cuda's are going for well over $1M.

Here is my Cuda:

How about a 72' Charger

ANY of the old muscle cars are cool. You just need to decide what you want to do with it, How much you want to spend, AND how much HP you want.

Choice 1: Chevelle

Choice 2: Nova

Either would be sweet i would do the Chevelle over the Nova but the Nova would also be sweet for drive it hard factor.

Not a better lookin car then a 69 camaro. They're beautiful to me. If you decide camaro, don't do a z clone. There are enough of them as it is.

Of course it's possible, a select few third generation El Camino's came with 454's from the factory. They were the SS(Super Sport)'s, of course.

Hell, the block would be close enough, if you wouldn't be looking for a SS454 clone, why not stuff a 572 Crate Engine in one :D

Anything is possible with enough money.

You really should have made a poll out of this....

I would go with a charger, or cuda...mainly for the resale value.

Your goign to dump quite a bit into this car to restore it, and your goign to want to at least break even when you sell it....with either of those two, you will break even and have enough left over to go restore 20 of them again!:p

yep...my dad just baught a 1970 ss 454 chevelle ls6 this morning....it will be getting a full frame off restoration and a zz572...were going with the 620hp one because you have to run race gas for the 720hp one.

a couple years ago my dad restored another 1970 chevelle ss 454 ls5 all matching numbers convertible...we did all the work on it then sold it on ebay for $60,000 then 2 years later (a couple months ago from now) it resold on ebay for $170,000 the value of chevelles sky rocketed these past couple years

69' Nova. Hands down, no questions asked.

Nova. I think I've only seen a few of them in my life and luckily I had the chance to drive one a few times that was pushing out around 400 HP. They are awesome looking cars and I don't think they get as much appreciation as the other muscle cars of that era. That's why I would go with a Nova.
