I read somewhere to use a stock XR 400 head gasket, can i use this on a .80 over bore?

Someone told me to not use a base gasket, anyone done this? and what kind of silicone did you use?

What cam do you recommend the Hot cam stage two or the HRC cam, or something else?

Where can i get the best bang for my buck as far as port and polish jobs go?

I know these might be simple questions but i just want to absolutly smoke my buddy's Z400...LOL

pro fab atv offer me a clean up port and polish for 150 or a full race for 375, i dont know if that included a 3 angle valve job or not.

get the stage 2 with the 416 and a 10.8:1 or a 11:1 piston

you can use a xr head gaket on a over bore i beleive. i would use a base gasket

I agree with the stage 2 hot cam. I called hotcams because of some conflicting information I got from the forum. The tech guy explained each cam to me and also stated the stage 2 and a 416 rocks!.

I put a stage2 with a high comp stock bore and i was very happy with its performance.

Good luck!

PS look in december dirt wheels for the 440 shoot out, they used a hot cams stage two in the kit.

It's a great way to up your performance in a couple of hours. I wasnt able to beat a raptor before, but after the cam and piston i whooped him good. ( im no light rider)

I didnt notice any difference using either fuels. I use 94 octane only right now. I will use race fuels in the dunes tho

You can use the xr400 gasket w/ a 416. I think the base gasket is up to you. If you don't use it, put some high temp silicone down. I was thinking of doing that, but the Cometic gasket I got w/ my piston was so thin, I decided to use it. Haven't had any problems with it. As for the cam, the HRC & Hot Cam 2 are almost identical, with the HRC having just a bit more lift & duration. I have been really happy with my Hot Cam camshaft. Just make sure you remove the compression release spring & plunger with that cam (might be the same w/ the HRC, too). I had a clean up port & polish done by C&D Racing for 125, and it really helped throttle response & power.

I used an xr gasket, no base gasket hotcams2, JE 10.8-1, porting. It is stronger and you will beat a z-400. my riding buddy just bought one and I pull away from him even witha 14t sprocket. Don't expect HUGE gains. Depending on where you ride you might consider a 426 or 440. If I had it to do over I would go with the 440.
Good luck

alln depends on your riding style. if you want more all around go with a stage one, or if you want somewhat of hit and a revver pick the 2

i just installed a je 416 and hc stage 2 and it is saweeeeet!
