safe to take baffle out?

hello guys i just bought a 450r and am wondering if it would be ok if i took the baffle out of the stock exaughst? I ride in feilds,woods,and go mudding and river riding. Just wondering because my friend took his off out of his pred.

If you want to, it wont do a thing for it but make it sound a tad louder and more like a fart!? The only time I've ever seen a good use for someone doing such a thing, was when one of my buddies raced a stock 450R and he couldn't hear it with the stock exhaust, took the baffle out for a little more noise, so he could tell when to shift it.

Thanks man..i am new to 450r and any performance quad i am getting into racing and will probly end up getting a pipe once i turn 16 and can race legaly. Its kinda dumb they take it out and it dont help the quad go faster or anything or improve the horse

Its not a baffle, it's more like a quiet core. It will not change performance removing it. All it will do is annoy everyone around you.

although i've seen where its BS that Gray actually has a 450r, taking the baffle out of bikes can help them quite a bit... it made a huge difference on my YFZ... it makes a difference on the LTR and 450r also...

it makes it louder- correct... why do you think all the aftermarket exhausts are louder than stock? to restrict sound you have to cork them up...

Well my parents finally lent me the money to buy this 450r for 3,300 ant much to brag about but i am on cloud 9 right now and my friend bought a 400ex the same day has me. My 04 450r has a skid plate,ac bumber,dg nerfs,hmf pipe

Seriously Gray33 has his own following, I think if he is lying it just makes all of the guys who follow his threads look even dumber... I honestly could care less if he has the quad or not, he is asking questions and partaking in the forum like a real member, instead of posting useless crap like "Prove it right now, you dont have a quad"

Who cares, maybe he's just asking for when he gets one, even if he does't have one, chances are there are other people out there with the same questions.

u can take ur baffle out as long as u jet ur bike, yet if u don't jet it will only tear up ur engine in the long run

taking the spark arrestor out a stock pipe wont need a jetting change.

that isnt entirely true... it does affect it somewhat, and these bikes are not jetted spot on from the factory in the 1st place...

taking it out doesn't do much at all. Pretty much just makes it louder. If you put the next size up jet in it would be rich.

i dont agree... especially since i think they come lean from the factory...

now i realize that the K&N breathes more, as does taking off the lid... but with my set up with the baffle out, my main was right on at a 170... and it was quite a bit quicker than stock... in all truth it was night and day difference over stock, and you dont gain a whole lot using a slip on...
