I am thinking about putting a higher comp piston in my 06 R and wondered what kind of gasket kit I would need to replace everything. Also is there anything else I would need to do/buy to do the install?

Just buy a head and cylinder gasket... if you dont have a flat file and feeler gauges get those to gap the rings. probably get some oil just to use as a lube to help get the rings to slide into the cylinder better and to lube up the cam and things after you are finished. I think thats about all ... i know on the 06 cylinders you can go ahead and slide the piston with the rings into the bottom of the cylinder.. then put it on the rod. This would make things alot easier in my opinion. Let me know if you need anymore advice.
Also, you may check out
www.rockinhorseweb.com... there is a write up on there for a high comp piston install.

You can start the piston in, cant put it all the way in, otherwise you cant get the wristpin into the piston.

You can, but you have to make two radius cuts in the bottom of the sleeve.

You can compress the rings by hand.
