Buying 04 400ex tomorrow. Cant WAIT. 4hr drive ahead of me. Good thing the gf is coming along to give me company. Anyways what should my first mods be. I was thinking this....

1st thing I did was dynojet kit, K&N filter, HMF exhaust.

Armor is a good idea though. post some pics when you get it.

unless u ride mx stay away from k&n. sucks in dust and sand. stick with foam filters.
1st mods....

foam aftermarket filter
sparks full (racing)
hmf slip on (off road fun play exhaust)
then u will have a good built four wheeler

Forgot to say that i have already new tires for the front from the last 400ex i had. I will be getting a UNI filter, not a fan of the K&N at all! I have a White Brothers E Series pipe waiting here at the house for it also.

i don't have any problems with my k&n in dust, i can't say anything about sand cause there's no sand here. as long as it's oiled it will hold up to dust but you do have to be careful and make sure to wash them and oil them regularly.

move to maryland....take your bike to chad502ex and let him work on it haha that guys amazing and he's the only person i trust when it comes to making the 400ex bad as **** lol....but yeah nerf bars is the next thing you might want to get (unless you have them already) makes riding a whole lot different

just got back from picking it up. Left at 12:30pm its now 11:20 that was alot of driving. Cant wait to ride it tomorrow!!!

first thing, pipe, jets and filter...

dont get a white bros e series, for one they gfive little to no gain i had one i hated it, not to mention with or without the spark arrester, it sounds like a roto tiller for a garden, i took a sledge to mine it was worth 2 bucks brand new they are horrible, unes you wanna gain tiny low end and sound like a tractor

I had the e series from the last quad i had. I dont mind the sound, and ill wait to replace it when i have money for a full system. Today i made it to my parts guy. Got Pro Armor Nerf bars with heel guards. Ordered new tires, and also got a block off plate coming. They should be here tomorrow. In a week or two im going to get a front bumper and skid. Not sure if i want to do a axle or not.

What kind of skids are you getting. Also if your axle is ok now then I would keep it until your rear bearing carrier wears out. Then buy a G Force axle (can't beat the price, wish I had bought one:( ) , RAD billet aluminum bearing carrier (just got mine it looks sick) and a RAD lock nut. That is at least what I would do LOL.:D Post some pics tomorrow.

After i installed some of the after market parts i got. Still need to get the new tires on, moose clutch lever, moose parking brake block off, new chain and sprockets.

I really like those nerfs. I got to get a set for mine...not sure what ones I want. Those look nice...have any more pics showing them at a different angle?

I really like these nerfbars but, they don't go together all that great. I dont want to stress the welds so i have to drill new holes where it mounts to a bracket where the old pegs use to be. I also had to bed up the tabs that mount it to the a arms. Here is another picture I have.

I got some Maxxis Razr's. Shop is closed now, have to wait till monday to get them put on.
