Breezewood July 4th (sort of) weekend

With the July 4th holiday falling in the middle of the week, this weekend would have to make do for the big pig roast and 2nd annual "quad couch pull"

We arrived there friday evening and everyone was pretty much starting to knock off for the night, except me and Ryan

Ant Burke and his chick came by to watch and posed for a shot before disappearing into the night just to drive his mom crazy:D

There wasnt much happening besides folks kicking back beside campfires and just hanging out, and we all called it a night around 1 am.

That is the time I learned a valuable lesson in looking before stepoping out of my tailer:ermm: We took our dogs with us and did not put the steps down at the main door so noone would let them out(locked teh door also) The trailer needed leveling before i went to bed so i unlocked the door and stepped out. My broken foot never left the trailer as the rest of me fell onto the ground...lol Thanks to Rich and the gang for helping me into the truck.

I broke the big toe and small bones in my foot , sprained my ankle and tore all the ligaments and tendons as well:( I got back to BPG around 5am from the hospital:grr:

Never one to quit, I hobbled around getting shots of the weekend fun, including the trophies for the couch pull

And besides, the dining hall gave me the oppertunity to suck up on some pity from the young ladies working there:D

Headed out of the dining hall it was a sure sign others were awake when the tracks started filling up

The tracks were in good shape as the weekend riding kicked off

Dan had made some changes and everyone was riding well and wrecks were down

Cody did not even take a quad this weekend and spent his time on his bike

Soem big air was there if you had what it took to hit it!

It sure seemed like everyone was having a great time even though it was getting hot and the dust was raising its ugly head

Ant may have been sporting a chick on his arm at night, but it was back to business come daylight

The couch pull riders were assembled and a parade lap was made

The riders were run 2 at a time in drag race style competition with the winner advancing to the next round. The creations can get pretty wild

The most decked out doesnt always mean a win, but ya get to look damn cool while running...lol

John Kelly and his wife are BPG regulars even though they live in NC now! Great people and always fun to be around....unless you make her mad then she will show you how she breaks necks:devil:

With the drive way closed, racing action was soon to be underway

Everyone started finding a good spot to watch the races

KH426(Kevin) and Josh grabbed the holeshot in the first race and looked to be running away with this one!

Josh was fired up and was already claiming victory!

[Pappy]

They made their way down the road, around the barn and back to the finish line and it was almost a drag race as the pair head our way

Kevin said he saw 60 mph on the Brute's speedo as he raced back, but as the dust cleared infront of me as he passed, he was missing Josh:eek:

Rich was hot off the gate towing his couch with his YFZ and was gone and off to victory!

The action was hot and fast, couch racing may fast become the next nascar...lol:D

In the end it was Rich and his team that walked away with bragging rights as he crosses the finish line!

Josh may have been laid back in the above photo, but after connecting with a tree during the race he was looking for something solid as they crossed the finish line.:p

Rich and pal take the 1st place trophy at the second annual couch pull!

The first losers were Kevin and Josh. Even though Kevin rode like he did not care if Josh survived and with complete lack of disregard for teh safety of the couch, 2nd was the best they could do:devil:

Saturday night came, and with many tired riders around and plenty of couches destroyed, the mandatory bon fire was being assembled as fireworks took over the darkeness

Someone handed out a ton of lightsticks and the kids went crazy!

They tried lighting off the couches with fireworks but all that happened was some pretty lights

Finally the real pyro in the crowd grabbed some VP12 and set her off:devil:

Everyone had a great time chatting by the burning wreckage of the days racing action:p

before the fireworks and bon fire, Cody and I did some more work while the event was getting assembled

Sunday morning dawned and the sound of quads woke me up and it wasnt long thereafter that I caught Rich airing it out

Josh hit the track and sent his LTR into the sky

The dust was really getting kicked up and the pain in my foot was telling me i had done more then I should have. I started walking off the track when Josh aired out the triple

We had a great time once again, other then yours truly's stupid little spill:p

Not sure how many pictures Pappy captured but Ant, another rider, and Rich were putting on a show on the triple by the bleachers. Ant pulled a heel clicker in the midst of the 3 of them closely following each other off the jump...

now a word of warning to any rider in front of Rich...he overshoots this jump occasionally...:eek2: :eek2: :eek2: better to let him go first. lol.

considering what happened last labor day ride, it better be a better outcome....

I got a few of them, but the dust made for crappy photos and I try not to post anything subpar. Nothing worse then a ****ty picture, if it aint clear and focused then its garbage for me most of the time...lol

the other rider is Shane Pope ,that was his first time riding in about 5 months he had a bad case of mono and got an enlarged spleen which meant he couldnt lift anything over 5lbs for 5 months ..

Thanks to everyone who made it out to enjoy the activities and the great riding over the weekend. We had a great time and really enjoyed having everyone.

Congradulations to Rich Baker and Zach Eller, both from New Jersey who won the couch Race. Rich and Zach are current members of the Proving Grounds and decided to Auction off the the three month free memberships they won and donate the proceeds to Anthony Mastracola.

The Mud bog was great fun as you can see by the pictures Posted. I hope next year more people plan ahead to participate in both the couch race and the mud bog.

Anyone who hasn't been out to the park yet should stop procrastinating and head this way. Hope to see you here soon.

My dad got about 3 hours of film from that wed- sunday, July 4 - 8 including some of the mud bog, there will be alot of 3-5 minute films on youtube shortly, similar to the spring fling #'s 1-5 on youtube.com

Labor day weekend is upon us. Hope everyone will be out for some great riding and camping. Along with the Kids Night racing and pit bike racing on the kids track Saturday Night, We will also have another Mud Bog at the race intermission.

Race sign ups are at 4pm Saturday and Racing Starts at 7pm outside on the kids track Under The Lights.

Sunday were having a free pig roast and Hay rides.
