i fully realize this is no truck forum, but i was wondering if the 4.6L motor in an f150 (what ive got) has any aftermarket potential ive got (for performance anyway) a volant cool air intake and flowmasters on it and im kinda thinking of trading it for a 5.4L f150 unless you can get more stuff to wake the 4.6 up, any input will be appriciated.

thanks

gears maybe? if it's an 04+ then there is no power! as for an intake should have saved the $$ and just removed the silencer inside the ribbed tube then slap in a k&n and your good:D search f-150 online forum for more tips

Im not a ford guy but is the truck 4.6 the same as the 4.6 they are using for the mustang ??

if so I would guess there are some good aftermarket power upgrades available.

you may want to look into it

For the money it's probably be cheaper to go the 5.4 route. A 4.6 accepts good cams and heads really well, but you're looking at quite a bit of money there. That's about the best mod you can really do to get a substantial increase out of them. They really don't accept superchargers well in stock form, so just bolting on a charger wouldn't be worth the money.

the mustang has different cams in it than the 4.6 in the F150. Honestly for that truck trade it in on a 5.4. The 4.6 doesnt have enough pep in it for a truck. Get the 5.4 3v if at all possible. They make respectable power N/A. They love superchargers, they have the right compression ratio from the factory for them, or at least the mustangs do, dont know how much difference is in the compression in the F150 4.6 and the mustang 4.6.

Get the 5.4, my dads truck has the 4.6 and it lacks the balls of the 5.4 my dad loves driving mine.He can be doing 10 or so mash the pedal and do a burn out but he sure cant with his 4.6 and it seems to have a little less umph than mine. But dont get me wrong the 4.6 is still plenty of engine to get you from point a to point b.
