you will love that pipe. once you remap the fuel injection it will wake up the quad a ton. i do suggest a 15 tooth front sprocket though or u will be on the limiter nonstop

Look at how much bigger the head pipe and mid pipe are. I am sure this pipe is making some HP. I cannot wait to get it on the dyno.

That is great news, because I really need some help on deciding which system to go with. Also could you recommend the programmer I should go with. I saw a trinity and wondered if yoshi made one and was it any good?

FUELATV

The trinity, alba, HMF and most others are alll dobeck controllers with their name on them. The programmer to get is the factory kawi one or the Dyno Jet power commander. The power commander has numerous benefits over the PIM and dobeck controllers.

Ok so far I have my power commander that I ordered from fuelatv I got my air intake now I cant decide what exhaust to run I kinda like the fmf powerbomb or the dasa. Need help on which would put out the most pony's

FUELATV

I will not be testing the FMF power Bomb. I have seen dyno runs with the power bomb and it was not very impressive. I have not had the Dasa for the KFX450 on the dyno yet. I have dynoed the Baldwin pipe. The baldwin shows great gains and is constructed very well. I have the pipe that was used in for testing for sale at a VERY big discount.

How soon will you be testing the dasa ? also can you post pic of the baldwin and what was the hp gain and how much do you want for it ? thanks for your help

It will be atleast 3 - 4 weeks before i run the Dasa. I am waiting for a couple more pipes to arrive before we run the next test. The Baldwin pipe sells for $599.99 plus shipping. I will sell the one i have for $475.00 shipped. It is flawless and like new. I have seen most of the pipes out and the Baldwin is tops as far as constuction goes. I cannot release any numbers, but i will say the baldwin Makes good HP over stock and is a top contender as of now.

Baldwin Racing pipe-
This pipe tested 102db at 3750 RPM. This is a REALLY nice piece. Baldwin went the extra mile incorperating alot of nice features into their pipe. The pipe has machined fittings for the canister and mid pipe making intalling it and removing it very easy. The Baldwin pipe also has a Billet canister mount, Thick head pipe flange, both the head pipe and mid pipe stock heat shields will bolt on. To top it off the end cap unbolts for easy canister repacking.

So you think the baldwin is going to put out more hp than the dasa ?

FUELATV
07-10-2007, 10:56 AM
Not sure ....... Dasa is known for making HP. The Baldwin has a Killer curve though. It makes HP from top to the bottom. I have to give it to baldwin for the fit and finish though.

I talk with the bike shop I use and he told me that the baldwin is made by hmf and baldwin puts their name on it

FUELATV
07-10-2007, 12:55 PM
That shop is FULL of it ...... The Baldwin smokes the HMF in quality by a LONG SHOT. The 2 pipes are not even close. Both make good HP, but thats where the simalarities end. The HMF is a good pipe and makes power. It is a cheaper pipe then the baldiwn.Look at the bends you can tell they are not the same.

Baldwin pipe -
1. thicker header pipe mounting flange
2. BOTH stock heat shields will bolt on
3. Billet end cap that unbolts
4. Machined fitting where the pipe come together
5. quieter

HMF pipe -
The HMF pipe tested 105db at 3750 RPM. The HMF pipe has a riveted canister this will make repacking the canister alittle more time consuming. This pipe does not have any heat shield mounts.

the HMF looks cool on there. i didnt relise that they were that loud.

FUELATV

I dont think 105 is too bad ..... IMO ...... i did the test at 3750 RPM with the db meter 20 inches form the back, 45 degrees to the side and at the exhaust center line. You can tell a difference between the HMF and Baldwin though. The Baldwin is quieter, but still has a nice bark.

My order is in now just wait to get it put my exhaust on air intake and power commander and find out what kind of horse power it gets

Are you on meds? The HMF looks the worst out of all of them. Its looks so generic and cheap. :eek2:

not real for sure about this, but i know on cars that a straighter shot is better for your exhaust it allows it to flow more freely. is it not the same on atvs?

i can attest to the quality, craftmanship and performance that the baldwin will give. I have personally been to Baldwin's shop and mark has gave me a tour and i must say, i was impressed to the attention to detail and the quality that goes into every part that Baldwin Motorsports puts their names on. From the exhaust, to the linkages, to the pep shocks, to their motor work. It is all top quality and some of the best work in the business.

The baldwin is sold, but i have these two pipe ..... again same stoy. both pipe were used for dyno runs only and are like new. Save big money on these two like new pipes. The LRD pipe comes with all three end caps.

LRD pipe - Anniversary Edition Exhaust ....... 1.25 end cap sleeve comes with this pipe
97db at 3750 ...... with the .875 insert
100db at 3750 .... with 1.25 insert
102db at 3750 ...... with the 1.9 insert

This exhaust features a modular billet rear end-cap design that utilizes sleeves to tune performance and sound. The Anniversary Edition pipe comes with a 1.25 inch end cap sleeve. You can buy the .875 inch sleeve or the 1.9 inch sleeve at $29.95 each from LRD. The pipe does have mounts for the stock head pipe heat shield, but no mounts for the mid pipe heat shield. This pipe does have a billet header flange, but it is not as thick as some of the others . The pipe's end cap does unbolt for easy canister repacking.

Trinity Racing pipe -
106db at 3750
The Trinity pipe is a multi step pipe. It has a mount for the head pipe heat shield, comes ceramic coated, and uses a trick billet clamp to hold on the canister. The pipe's end cap does unbolt for easy canister repacking.

i must admit, the trinity pipe does look pretty sick on the kfx, not a fan on any other bike.

FUELATV

The LRD pipe is sold. I still have the trinity for $400.00 shipped. The Trinity pipe on the LTR450 made very good HP. The Trinity pipe for the KFX comes ceramic coated and looks very good. The billet clamp is nice too. I am sure it will make good HP. not to mention a basically new pipe with ceramic coating for $400.00 shipped is a smokin deal.
