View Full Version : will hmf s/o work with power bomb header?

i have an hmf slip on and i was wondering will it fit a power bomb header and if not what do i need to do to make it work!

if it doesnt fit you might have to chop the header a little bit. thats all i had to do for my ct pipe

yes. I have it and it fits perfect. No modification required. Ill post pics if u want.

yea im ready to get it all together but ma only concern is that i read on another thread that the diameter of the mofler dont fit over the header pipe! idk!!

does the s/o jsut fit right up to the power bomb just as it does to the stock header? do i need a mid pipe or something? and buy the way nice quad man!

Nope. You dont need anything. Just slip the two together just like the stock pipe and youre good to go. Thanks, its coming along. Next is suspension.

thats good to know. people should post of what pipes fit to what headers and such. kinda like this where a fmf fits to a fmf power bomb.

The HMF fit on the powerbomb better than the stock header.

have any of you had the hmf s/o before the powerbomb? ive been thinking about trying to find a used powerbomb head pipe because of the claim that they can lower your sound output. is there any truth to this? have any of you actually noticed a difference in sound?

I know this thread is fairly old, but I wanted to answer the last question. The hmf slip on easily put my sound over 100 db with a stock header. I dont think the powerbomb is going to lower the sound because of its increased flow. The "Bomb" in the center might have something to do with it if it does, but I doubt it would be very much if any.

i dont have the powerbomb yet but i have the hmf and they say that when you put the hmf with the powerbomb it gives it a deep sound but its not as loud.... they say its a good sound... but we shall see very soon

Yeah i'm seriously considering the powerbomb for my bike too but I'm having problems getting my carb out to rejet so i'm holding off until I get that taken care of. You'll have to let me know what kind of performance increase you get.

Wouldnt it just be better to get the HMF full system? It has larger headers and everything is bigger than stock. You jet it differntly but have better flow and power gains or so I would think.

The bigger header would be fine but if it really is that much bigger than stock you would lose back pressure and as a result, sacrifice low end for high. I guess it would just depend on whats more important to you.

Yeah full systems are normally for modified engines which I am keeping mine stock. There might be a cam in it that nobody knows about haha because I can beat 400ex with a pipe sometimes an I can run with a banshee or beat 1 in a drag and I have smaller tires. How much is the powerbomb header?

So why does everyone get the fmf powerbomb and not the one that comes with the HMF full system?

Reading the previous posts might answer your question AnDy7. You might also go to FMF's website and read about the Powerbomb because they describe how it works much better than I can. The Powerbomb apperantly does a better job of boosting power to the entire range because of the "bomb" in the center of the header. From what I understand just having a bigger header would decrease back pressure and you would lose your low end power. For people who dont only drag race, this would be a bad thing.
