check out servicehonda's website they make them. I though about doing it and might still do it but i would be kinda point less for me as i ride track alot and the 2 strokes just dont have the torque

that 400ex with 250r motor is mine that you posted the link about. the frame is holding up great since it's a 87 trx250r motor and dioes not vibrate.

that would be the better way to do it since the bike frames are not counter balanced. $5,000 is crazy high priced for that swap.

the guy i bought it from said he broke even at the $1600 i won it for off ebay

i love your ride!!could you post or e-mail me some more detailed pics of your install?it looks like the man did a great job

a dirt bike motor would have been great because i could buy a whole dirt bike for what just a 250r motor will cost me but the quad motor def.looks the way to go.

oh well,...anybody want to trade a 400ex motor for a 250r ?motor:D

the pictures would not be that good since i did not get to wash it yet since i raced it a couple weeks ago at Line Mountian.

you can find stock 250r motors on ebay for around $500

Whats the problem ??? intake, swing arm, exhaust??

08-16-2007, 02:23 PM
There is a company that uses every part off the 400ex except the motor and engine stuff. The put Honda 250r motos into a 400ex frame so when you need a part you get a 400ex part. I think they sell them for 4k brand new I cant remember the company

butti

everything is going smooth except the intake.:( gonna have to fabricate one that offsets to the right

This motor is backwards to the 250r motor. Kickstart on the left side and chain on the right side. We worked on the intake tonight and the bottom motor mount and started the top mount. The rad will be here next week so we are in good shape.

Do you not have to weld something up to hold the break stay/break caliper in place?

The rear break isnt going to be in the way of the front sprocket at all?

jsu101
08-18-2007, 01:22 AM
You have to cut and weld the brake stay. We will have pic of it later when we do that

What was this motor taken out of? A rebel star? I've never heard of it.

Anymore progress? How does it run?

jsu101

the motor was out of a rebal star quad and i think they are lone star now but not sure. atk also used the motor in there dirt bikes as a 256ls or lg cant remember. but this motor is a 265 just a bigger bore. it runs good need to do more jetting on it and every time we rejet it gets better

there are pics of the rebel star in this thread.we used the pipe that came with it but a 250r pipe could have been made to work the same
