it seems more people have the crf, but i know myself and jrspawn like yz's better. they have a harder hit which is something i like, while the crf is smoother...

I could be wrong on this but doesnt the honda produce more power stock for stock?

than the yz450? in the production versions the yfz makes more no? i would figure it would be that way in the bike form too. i think people usually compare the 426 to the crf450.

isnt the YZ450 motors faster than the 426 or are they the same?

I know in bikes the honda makes 52hp where the yamaha makes 48hp (that was last years models) so i assumed it was the same in quads

The quad engines are "de-tuned" in a sense and make over 10hp less.

Myself, the YZ450f is a bullet proof engine that you cant go wrong with. Yes the CRF's put out alot of power too, but they are not as reliable from expierence. I love my YZ engines and run them for a reason!

Thank you

Don't $hit yourself, there is a reason the vast majority of "hybrids" run CRF motors. From performance, to reliability and especially to the cost of replacement parts!

I always try not to crap myself

One of the major reasons *some*(i would bet any amount of money that there were far more True hybrid YZ quads produced than CRFs) of the hybrid chassis companies and pro's ran the CRF was for the performance of the powerplant. Out of the box it put down some crazy horsepower. And modified it did great also. But a modified YZ engine would lay down just as good as numbers. And the CRF's DO have more reliablity issues than the YZ powerplants. Not bashing the engine, its just a proven.
But like the old saying, to each their own.

Ive built and owned both setups, and like mentioned. I stay with the YZ's for a reason. Ive never been anything but happy with the performance and reliabilty out of them.

Thank you
Justin

i also think more crf's were used, as they didn't require an external oil tank, and at the time the 426 was used against the crf450 rather than the later produced 450. by then productions were just coming out, no?

I haven't had alot of seat time with my CRF but I definatley wouldn't trade it as far as I can see, SICK motor!
