wha should i get to put in my 2001 400ex.i dont really want the 440 cuz then i will have to buy a bigger cam for it and i dont wanna spend tha much more money... which one should i go for to get my moneys worth???

a bore without a pipe may help you out alot ...

cause i have a couple questions there that sorta seem liek that noone can answer truthfully ....

You don't need a bigger cam when you put in a 440. You need to resleeve. Since you are racing Mx I would imagine i would go with a 416 or a 425. A 416 will rev faster but a 425 will have a little more bottom end. The 440 in my opinion is usless for Mx. 440 doesn;t have as much bottom end as either 416 or 426. It si up to you and your money situation. If i was in your shoes i would go with a 425 with no cam or maybe an Xr400 then get some suspension and axle and a arms. Maybe some new front tires ince you dont; have those either.

I Just got a 416, hotcams2 and porting, My advice is to go bigger

i want the 425. i dont wanna put a 440 in it and have to change the cam and the vaulve springs.but i want my moneys worth

not trying to flame but if you don't put in a new cam or anything else just bore it, you won't notice much power increase, but u said ur motor didn't run so i guess its ok if it works? i'd say stay small and do all the other parts first for reliability reasons then go big, but my advice if you want faster is suspension if ur motors "ok"

Dont waste money on a bore kit if you dont have enough for a cam!!

He has no choice. He has to bore it. He blew his up and now need to go to a bigger Bore. he wants a 425 and not a 440. If he don;t have to buy a cam then he won't. Like i said if you are gonna go with a 425 then get a Marcums 425 kit wiht a Je Pistion with a higher compression. Tha is like 150. Then all you gotta pay for is to have somone bore it. Then you can say forget about the engine and work on the Suspension. Don't Go cheap on suspension. Works are not a good idea for Mx. But i geuss it depended on your money situation.

There isn't anything wrng with running works shocks to start out on. I have seen plenty of guys winning A class with them in D22. If you do have the money to blow I would go with a better brand but don't act as if works can not compete.
