Well I have an 85 el camino with a 5.0L/305 in it. I would have dropped my other 350 in it but for now being young and constantly broke im staying with the 305. Does anybody have a clue on some numbers for gas mileage on a 305 with

Edelbrock High-Rise Intake Manifold
OEM Fuel Pump
High Velocity Oil Pump
K&N Air Filter
OEM Thermostat
OEM Water Pump
OEM Cap/Rotor/Plugs/Wiring

Exhaust:
Dynomax Blackjack Shorty Headers
2¼” Tubing
Borla Mufflers

It has just been stripped to the bone and cleaned(under valve covers, manifold, ect..
The OEM just means its a stock but new replacement.
Also, most if not all of the emissions stuff has been taken off.

why dont you just go get gas.....drive around for like 100 miles...then go fill it up again and calculate how much you get.

Fuel mileage is subject to way too many variables to even guess accurately.

Some drivers can get 15-20 mpg on a vehicle and some others get 10-15 with the same vehicle.

It's all about how you drive. Slow and steady gets the job done better than jack rabbit starts and abrupt stops.

If you are looking for good mileage out of the car then ease into the gas to get it moving and don't run up to the next stop and slam on the brakes.

Try to anticipate traffic lights and stopped cars far out in front of you, if you see someone stopping or a light changing let off the gas pedal and let the car coast up to the stop.

When to traffic in front of you starts to move ease into the gas don't mash the pedal to the floor.

If you drive it like a granny you will get good fuel mileage, if you drive it like a hot rod the fuel mileage will SUCK.

yep !!!

i had a 305 (cam , intake, carb) in a s10 with 3.73 gears any a 700r4 (over drive auto)
I could drive it all day with out pushing the throttle over 1/16th of the way down and get over 25mpg

but i never drove it that way.

gears and transmission and carb. have a lot to do with it also.

i would expect 5 to 20 mpg

Best I can get out of my 71 nova with 350/350 edelbrock rpm, dart heads, well tuned carter 600cfm carb with the gas mizer metering rods, and 308 rear gear is 13.3 mpg. That is a whole tank of gas run highway miles at 2200 rpm. I get 8 around town. with my more raspy metering rods, and having a little more fun driving around. Sorry for the bad news, but I would guess an Elk would get around 10.

Hey how did you like the 3:73's? I have a 4:10 ratio right now and I'm not digging it so much, any highway is a pita with it which make's me want to go towards the 3:73 or 3:55. From what you said in the post it looks like it'd be a huge improvement over what I have now, How was it in citys and such.. :bandit:
