I have even bought another locknut and it will still not stay tight. What is the next best axle locknut I can get where it will actually stay tight for atleast a ride. I was looking at the rpm and lonestar with the built in brake hub for a 400ex and are they really work the 200 dollars?

I have used red loctite on it already, and electrical tapped the crap out of it and it helped a little but the rotor could still move back and fourth but not side to side if you know what I mean. I also got my cousin to tighten it, hes 6'5 270 pounds and it still comes loose, What about the rad locknut, is it all worth the 40 dollars or should I just spend the extra 100 or so for the rpm/lonestar. I am sick of my axle coming loose! Any other suggestions please feel free.

IO had the same problem when I had my 400ex. I got a pipe and put it on the wrench for leverage to tighten it a lot more. They I put electrical tape, but when I put it on, i streched the tape. It work for about a month, then I sold it so idk how it is now.

Here is my problem, when I tighten big nut on the whole locknut assembly i do it by hand because if i tighten it with a pipe wrench to much it just strips and go loose again, there is no way the threads can be stripped because I bought another locknut off of a member on here and it still will not stay tight. I also used electrical tape and stretched it right until the point where its about to rip. My way of tightening it is i have to used channel locks on the inner ring of the locknut, not by tightening the big one. Am i doing something wrong where I cant use the outer ring as the main tightener?

idk, but I tightened mine with a pipe wrench. It just got a little scored but not much. And I put the electrical tape over the whole locknut assembly and a little over the axle. Mine didnt get stripped or anything, just scored a little. Maby the threads on the axle are stripped??

I have been reading about them atvrider, The locknut is built into the brake hub so it doesnt make so many things in the rear end. It holds up heat so that your breaks dont fade also. And when you go to put it on you hand tighten the locknut then there are 2 allen key bolts which you tighten which keeps the axle tight as can be.

Get a RAD locknut for around 40-50 bucks. Works just as well as the expensive antifades. I've tightened mine once and only once and it refuses to come loose. I'd buy one again in a heartbeat, highly recommend ;)

x2 Excellent replacement, I, like NacsMXer, have tightened it once and only once. Get it and save some cash.

well if the locknut keeps coming loose, then just wrap a little duct tape around it, you'd be surprised, it actually works i have been doing it for over about 2 years with no problems!

Why duct tape?? Use electrical tape because it streches.

ok, but i have used both, and for ME the duct tape has help up much better than electrical tape, but if you think e-tape is better, thats your oppinion. I'm just saying from my experiences the duct tape has worked a lot better

Dont get to excited over a anti-fade. Mine often comes loose!
