Poor Man Racing! Rear Shock Rumor! CR500 Dirtbike Rear Shock on a TRX250R ATV? True?

I heard that I can put a CR500 Dirtbike rear shock on my 1986 Honda TRX250R and get more travel. It this true?

And if it is true, can the rebound be corrected so i dont get shot up in the air?

Yup! I'm still racing my baby and shocks are pretty expensive, so I am looking for alternatives.

People are actually talking about the cr500 linkage with a shock that is built for it not the dirtbike shock itself. The cr500 linkage was popular back in the day for a lot of aftermarket chassis.

yes but you also had to have the swingarm that was set up for the cr500 linkage
