clutch basket "play"????

I took my clutch apart tonite to try diagnosing some problems ive been having, when i got the plates and all out i noticed that the clutch basket has some in and out free play, it wobbles in and out when i pull on it, is this normal? it doesnt have any rotational play in it just in and out. Thanks

some play is normal on all different bikes i wouldent worry about it unless the bike pulls when clutch is pulled in or real jurky on releas.
