View Full Version : any difference between L & R motor mounts?

I need some help. I purchased front motor mounts off of ebay and I believe I have to right side motor mounts. Now are the left and right side ones bent in different ways? Both of these when on the bike are bent the exact same way and it seems that it would look like the motor is sitting crooked on the bike. I dont have a motor to put on them so i really wouldnt know what it would look like. The right side one looks right as the top part of it is going into towards the middle of the frame, but the one on the left side is kinda sticking out the side of the frame and doesnt quite look right. If anyone would have some pics of a left side and right side motor mount next to each other it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Im 99% sure that they are the same if not very similiar. Mine are getting powder coated right now so I really can't double check. I do remember with my last build though I was thinking the same thing "these look crooked, are they the same" but once you mount the engine to the head stay, and rear mount you'll see if you have the right ones... I bet you'll be ok

thanks a ton, also i just thought about it, doesnt the motor have to be kinda offset for the pipe since its bigger than a 4 stroke pipe?

The front motor mounts are not the same. The right hand side one has more of a bend to it. Check out Service Honda for part #s, they are different for right and left mounts.

but do they bend both the same way? Id have to look at them again but im sure the one I put on the right has more of a bend than the other

They both bend in the same direction, but the right hand side one has more bend in it.

They are very similar, though. At a casual glance, they look exactly the same.

i can garuntee with out a doubt that they are NOT the same. i had a set of aluminum ones made and ran into that problem. they look quite similar and bend the same way but one bends more then the other.

(marks day on calander that i knew something that wilk didnt. :devil: )

Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back just yet.

At a casual glance they DO look similar, but of course they are different. Just last week, I was putting my quad together, and I got them backwards. There is about a half inch difference.
