What exactly does the wrap people put around the head pipe on some quads do? Does it help with keepin the heat down. or does it give it some more power..

This is what im talking about..

I think it is used as a heat shield in some cases to keep from burning legs, pants, boots, whatever.

I believe its to keep the heat in, so it moves faster...or smoother, I guess :p

Yep. Aside from insulating your body or parts of the quad from the exhaust heat, keeping the exhaust gas from cooling off as it travels through the pipe helps it maintain it's velocity. High exhaust gas velocity helps suck all the exhaust gas out of the cylinder and helps pull in fresh charge during the valve overlap period.

Yeh man, 4 horsepower....................................:huh

Thats heat wrap so you don't burn your leg, I feel my pipe on my 250r sometimes, but its a 2 stroke so the pipes huge!

exactly as GPracer2500 said, keeps the exhaust hot to help it suck out of the head faster.
