Well heres a pic of my case when my chain came off and wrapped around my front sproket.

mx setup, im waitin on gaskets for the motor... i broke my rear fender too:( new tires rear sproket and bumper

That sucks man... but were you using a case saver??? If not, I bet you will after you get it fixed back up. Cheap insurance in my eyes.

case savers dont always work. worst case the chani can snag the saver itself and cause even more damage. thats rare though, and they usually do help. but they are not the end all be all solution.

i had one but it broke before this incedent... idk how. but yea i got a duncan racing one now. i cant wait to get it goin, i missed out on half a summer of riding.

Mine did the same thing. The case was mint. The case even had the bolt holes in tact for the case saver and the guy I got the motor from wasnt running the saver. It jumped and junked the cases. Atleast I got the motor cheap because of the damage. It was an easy fix. I don't know if you all know this but you can split the R cases without even removing the clutch cover. I had the cases fixed in less than 2 hours.

i always thought all external components inside the clutch cover had to be removed ?

Yes it can be pulled apart like that, but, that sure is a bunch of trouble pulling that crank back into the flywheel side bearing & alining all those other shafts up at the same time.
