i just picked up an 02 after a couple of years away from quads.it runs great except that it seems to run out of gas when riding wheelies:confused: it takes about 50 yards but does it every time.i checked the float level in the carb and it looks fine.im not sure how i would adjust it anyways as it is all plastic.any ideas or suggestions would be great!

Is the tank full? Does it run out if you switch it to reserve?

What I'm getting at is maybe the fuel level in the gas tank isn't reaching the pickup tube for the ON postion when leaned back. Just a thought.

it sputters and dies, then it will restart but you have to let it idle a few seconds before you can take off again

do you have any problems when ur not riding wheelies. id maybe try to adjust your air fule mixture screw. what main jet are you running? stock? (stock i believe is 146)

sounds like your float. best bet is get a 400 ex service Manuel and it will walk you through it. rather trying to explain it.

yeah it definatley sounds like a float in the carb.yours might be bad but Mine had a washer holding it open and it was sputtering and dieing when wheelied..took the washer out and it is perfect.

Mine pours gas out the overflow when I wheelie, but it dosent want to stall.

Maybe the overflow is clogged and it's stalling because it's flooding rather than running out of gas?
