Hey Fellas, a few months ago I decided I was going to do what I always have said I wanted to. I am building a 400EX for MX from the ground up. I will keep updates and pictures as I go and I`m sure some time along the line I`ll be asking everyone a few questions.

Im going to make a list of the already purchased items, and then the items to come as well.

Purchased

2001 400ex Frame and Sub. Powdercoated white.

Stock steering stem which I went ahead and had PC`ed black.

Namura 440 top end with stage II cam, 450 timing chain. HD valves, and HD studs along with and 89mm Gasket kit

Also stock swingarm with a Pro-Action rear shock and a Lonestar bearing carrier.

+To come+

Fullflight +2 a-arms

Blingstar Black iron Cross

G-force +2-+4 axle

Tag T-2 bars

ITP C-series rims (black) with MXR6 tires all around

HMF Full exhaust (black)

White fullbore graphics with Bombsquad graphics.

Im gonna keep everything updated but all I have right now is a pic from a while ago. But this was the start of my beautiful idea.

Might wanna look into an aftermarket sub-frame from Lonestar or something, so you can swap the grab bar. Thats sumtin i'm definitely gunna invest in, cause my current grab bar/sub-frame is notched from wheelies.

Alright Tully lets grow up and not talk SH** on my thread. Even thought you ride a stock bike, you might still beat me. Its all rider. But I am waiting for my Bottom End to return becauase UPS dropped it and cracked the left inner case and I dont really know whats going on with that. I have heard many bad things about the C-series wheels. I am thinking of just going right out and getting hypers but I`m not sure. And as far as the sub, I just want to get the bike running first and I may look into that in the future!

Well as far as front shocks. Right now I`m going to run 450r fronts (revalved from GT Thunder) and while I`m running those I`ll be saving up for Axis or TCS custom shocks. Maybe even Elkas but I`m not sure. Like I said I`m going all out on this one so I`m gonna spend top dollar for top quality stuff!

Im actually going to put a new company to the test for a-arms. I am going to run full-flght a-arms just because they are +2 while I can still run my stock length brake lines because I already have stock Length steel braded brake lines.

Tully, your a douchebag, anyways. I like the Roll Arms, but its gonna be a while before those. What does you guys know about Housers?

I was going to buy housers for my 440.....then the engine let go and it had to be rebuilt....so all my a-arm money went to the engine.....I like housers though, they have a good warranty and alot of the pro's run them...

When i get my YFZ, i will deffinately be Saving for a Roll/Elka setup....

My friend had Custom Axis/Houser on his 440 it was nice, i perfer defferently tho ...

Something like some normal Houser +2 or +3's with the PEP limited mass shocks would be a very nice set-up for only about $1,000. I just dont see spending $2,000 on a front-end when the quad will only be worth maybe $3,500 when done...
I would steer clear of Full-Flight. They don't seem to be bad, but they could be ALOT better...

I think I`m going with the Houser +2`s and the P.E.P Standard Race shocks. I know two people who are currently running Full Flight arms, and have been for a few months with no problems. But like everyone has said, its better to go with a known company.

I got my bolt kit for the bike. Every bolt on it, which is stainless steel now. Its a very nice addition to the bike and helps me out instead of paying 2-3 a piece from the Honda dealer.

What type of engine are you gonna do. 416,427,440...465:devil: . Sounds like you got the project off to a good ...no quite rolling start.

The engine is all being assembled next week, The rest of my parts should be here by then

The engine consists of

-Namura Technology 440 Big Bore Kit
-Stage II Cam
-HD Timing chain
-HD Head studs from GT Thunder
-HD Kibblewhite Valves and New Seals
-Full HMF Exhaust
-K&N Filter
-Aluminum Airbox
-450R Carb Until I can afford the Eidlebrock 440 Carb.

When the engine is put togther and in the quad I`ll try to find a camera for some more current pictures.
