stage 1 and 2 xrcams, XR cam users need advice

i have surfed the xr only site and noticed they have a stage 1 and stage 2 cam for the 400ex, and both are same price. I have never heard anyone on this site talk about both of these. i just hear references to the xr400, so which one do most of u guys use?

i just purchased the hot cams stage 2, more aggressive than the stage 1 which is more aggressive than the xrcam.


i will be installed by this weekend. the xr cam is a mild cam slighter better than the stock 400 ex cam

there is only one xr cam, the one that comes in the xr400

There is only one xr cam, and that is the xr cam from Honda. There is also the HRC cam, which I guess you could call a stage 2 cam, but that's not really what it is. Then there are the Hot Cam cams. Stage 2 is almost the same as the HRC grind. I have heard nothing but good things about the HRC cam, and I have been very happy with the stage 2 cam.

I also use a Hotcam stage 2 and I love it. It's the best cam I have seen for more mid and high rpms.

My best guess is that those 2 cams (the ones in red) are the Hot Cam cams. The reason for me thinking that is that the Hot Cams use stock springs & rockers, and the compression release is removed. Have you called them to ask them for the specs? Remember, the xr400 cam isn't an aftermarket cam. It is the OE cam on the xr400.

they are the hot cams. look at the pat numbers and then look at the part numbers for hot cam, same thing
