Looking to change from a utility to a sport bike. Out of all the sports quads I've rode recently, I liked the YFZ the best. But I'm not too sure if I'll miss the reverse, though? We mostly hit the sand dunes but we do occcasionaly ride trails.

well dunes have no need for reverse...if your big enough to ride a yfz you should probably be strong enough to push it or toss the front end over, most people can just whip it around in a trail so you probably wont miss it

even with the raptors, it is pretty rare that i or anybody else use reverse... if raptors didnt have reverse it wouldnt make any difference to me...

but even with my 250r or yfz, it is a rare occasion that i wish i could use reverse... i almost never get off my bike to pull it backwards...

These quads are so light, its easy to just push or pull it, lift it and toss it...

I usually just touch the front brake for a second get the tires spinning, lean forward turn the wheel and it comes right around. I really wouldnt care if it had reverse or not I would probally never use it.

Thanks guys. Like I said, I think the YFZ fits me best but I didn't want to buy something different just because of the reverse.

my yfz has reverse, all you have to do is when you sitting on it you put your feet on the front tires and turn them backwords.

works well for me.

Kinda surprized me that no one really cares about revers. To me its a pretty big selling point. And one of the reasons that the Raptor is so much better than like, a DS or the 450's. My dad wouldnt have bought his 700R if it didnt have revers. And he uses it often.

Reverse is mostly the reason i want to get a Z400 to replace my 400Ex.

I find myself wanting it often. Maybe im just lazy :)

I rode my raptor, then i rode my new yfz se and the yfz stuck to the trail while the raptor felt so top heavy. The only good thing about the raptor is the clutch is easy to use.

I didint really want it because i have my yfz. So i didnt take the chance to find out what year, it was i just type it really quick. If its not an 05, then is must be on 06, but heres a pic of it.

I bought a blue 2007 YFZ450. So far I've added a pipe, ac nerfs, Elka steering dampner and air filter.

Alba was having a huge sale-It ends today though. Everything is 30/50% off. I got their pipe/header with jet kit and air filter for $381. And I won't even tell ya what I bought a set of sandstar tires and wheels for. Killer prices!

Never really had the chance to compare suspension on the Raptor of my dads. Very soon after he bought it he had Triple rate fully adjustable elkas all the way around.

Best bike I'VE ever ridden at least.

Only if you do XC ONLY! If not, damn that reverse it is useless!

I had to learn to do that too. There have been a couple of ocassions that reverse would come in handy. I usually make a joke in those situations because my dealer told me specifically that reverse is not needed at all and I would never use it ... come to find out that that guy didn't know all too much.

I do find it a good selling point on the KFX450R though - not so much for MX but a good idea for XC/woods racing.

Nope, it's a 450 which is "The popular race class" so of course the majority of them won't have it, if the yfz came with it.....great! but it doesn't so oh well at least i've got the best 450. :D

Go Yamaha!!
