im retiring the old and tired 440ex. and now got a 2004 completely bonestock 450r and want to know more about these motors. how strong are the bottom ends on these motors i plan on throwing either a je 13-5:1 or the baldwin 14:1 piston. im just wondering can the stock crank and rod hold up to this? for cams i was looking at the web cam do you need to hardend the rockers for the web cams in a 450r?

I plan on doing the same piston as you but I plan to keep my hrc cam.

I am really leaning towards a baldwin piston and a hotrods +3 stroker crank since its a dropin they say.

i plan on leaving this stock bore and stroke. keeping it to the rules in my series. i just dont know what people do to these motors to make them stay together since its an 04 and the guy said he never did the crank bearing mod i plan on doin but dont know if the stock crank and rod is strong enough for high compression pistons.

the stock rod will hold it the problem is the crank needle bearing on clutch side needs the new collar and seal to the race from moving back and fourth on the crank.

yes i plan on doin that as i rebuild the motor so if i replace that the crank and rod will hold up fine to high compression piston? and another question in the ex you buy a web cam you had to get your rockers hardend. do you have to do this to the 450r?
