I think that the 525 will dominate in the open classes. I mean their is no size limit and people are running bored/ maxed out 450s but if you were to bore and max out the 525 you would have a lot of power that would dominate the class.

just my opinion but it takes a complete package to "dominate"

motor/susp/rider/luck.......................

they are pretty bad quad but half way is the middle of the pack, I will keep watching.

seems every new quad that comes out is going to rule the world.

The 525 is a stroked 450, no? So it's basically got the same limitations as the other 450's.

I heard that they were also using the older generation 525?

It would appear Suzuki is ruling the WPSA superquad, but the second point you make is a very good one.

It would appear Suzuki is ruling the WPSA superquad. I don't know, not trying to be Captain Obvious or anything...

i own an ltr450 with some basic stuff done and my friend has a 525 outlaw which is heavier than the ktm and i can tell you that if the suspension is as good as it should be, the ltr is in for trouble. the power of the 525 is smooth and strong, much like the ltr's but just more of it. all he has on his 525 is a full exhaust, k&n, and rejet with 80% o-ring mod to the accelerator pump. it rails

The KTM 525 is not a stroked 450. The 525 can be built to a 570 w/ bolt on kits from KTM. That means the new cylinder can be bored out and make it even bigger than that. One real nice thing about KTM motors are that the 450 cylinder can fit on the 525 and reverse. So if you buy a 525 you can down size it to fit in the 450 class buy putting on the 450 cylinder. You could also put the 570 kit on the 450. KTM sells the kit right thru their HardParts Cat. I have a 525exc motor in my quad that is pretty much stock other than the wiseco 12-1 piston and a White Brothers modified exhaust, and it wil run with all the big name motors out there. I was going to put the 570 kit on mine but I haven't found a reason to yet.

Dirtbike specs.
450
Displacement 447.92 cc
Bore x stroke 95 x 63.4 mm (3.74 x 2.5")

525
Displacement 510.4 cc
Bore x stroke 95 x 72 mm (3.74 x 2.83")

Same bore longer stroke = stroked motor.

Are you correct or is the 450 a de-stroke 525:eek2: or is it a 450 stroke to a 525 or is a 350 bored and stroke. The fact is KTM made a very versatile engine that you can setup from a 350 too a 576 all with factory parts.

there is 3 different 450 motors, bore x stroke, tranny ratio's between them all are different also.

this is the sx 450

97 x 60.8 mm

450 xc

95 x 63.4 mm

450exc

89 x 72 mm

here is the 520/525 models

exc

95 x 72 mm

xc

95 x 72 mm

Definately will be an awsome open machine! I rode a 520SX dirt bike in 01 and the thing absolutely ripped! I want one, (as long as the bugs are worked out and its proven to be a solid machine)

You can set it up from 250cc to 610cc to be precise :p

EDIT: Dunno if the 610cc is from KTM itself, but I have seen em.
