ok ok ok i know, i KNOW that there are about 500000000000 treads on this but ok here it is. right now i have a completly stock 2007 400ex. i really need it to run fast. i would rather have have quick axcel. then top speed. dont get me wrong i wanna go fast top speed, but i wanna be off the line. i realyl mostly jsut ride on the road, but if i do ride other than that it is in fields and woods. i was thinking of getting a 440 everything. this kit on this website is $1,499.99, but idk if it is something i shoudl get. i am not experienced at ALL with bore **** out or anything hahah so idk what i will do. the website is http://www.partsforatvs.com/default.asp?p=2230&c=725&cn=M3Q+400EX+POWER . is that a good deal? i dont exactly know much of anything ahah so if someone can also eventually help me with jetting or even tell me if i shoudl get a 440. i dont know if i should get the 440 cause everyone is saying they are unreliable blah blah blah blahh. and i havent seen a 426 kit anywhere. jsut right now i know for a fact, belive it or not, my top speed is about 69-70. i wanna actually get up to mid 70's-80's. ok so yea if anyone can fill me in on the 440 or the 426. i dont really want a 416 cause i dont see how that can help much. ok and a list of things i sohudl get will also help. i know this is alot but i need help and you guys seem to know what ur talking about. also with that websites kit, if i put that on my quad how fast do you think i can go? thanks everyone. i really appreciate it.

First you need to continue to read and learn.

A well built 416 can make almost as much HP as a 440 and be more reliable.

If your willing to spend $1500 at first crack I'd pick a reputable engine builder and send them your engine and have a stroker motor built.

For example:

GT Thunder
400EX / 450 Stroker

Basic kit:

Engine labor, machining, gaskets, stroke crank, custom 87mm piston with relocated wrist pin hole, for the extra stroke, camshaft. $1500.00

Or Advanced Machining:
400EX Hi-performance top end kit Stage II

440 Big Bore

* Bore & Hone cylinder service
* 440 sleeve installed
* Wiseco Piston kit
* Stage II porting
* 1mm over Kibblewhite Black Diamond valves
* Stage II Hotcam
* Kibblewhite spring kit
* CDI revbox
* Clutch kit
* Top end gasket set
* Multi-angle valve job
* valve guides checked
* new valve stem seals
* gasket surfaces prepped
$1350

Or Lukes racing

400ex Honda 460cc big bore stroker kit. Includes:
Hotrods +4 mm stroker crankshaft assembly $389.95
CP Forged 12-1 compression piston kit $255.00
Advanced big bore cylinder sleeve $81.95
K&S complete gasket set $79.95
K&S complete seal kit $30.10
2 NTN crankshaft main bearings $52.89 each from Honda $105.78
Cometic 89mm big bore top-end gasket set $32.10
Our Price $750.00

if it's a brand new quad IMO punching it out is a waste of money if the thing runs fine. i would either sell it and buy a 450R or run the piss out of the 400 till it starts smokin like a bandit then punch it out.

i'm kind of in the same frame of mind right now about wanting something faster but mine runs fine and doesn't smoke or anything so i really don't want to bore it out because i believe if it ain't broke don't fix it. i just put a cam in mine b/c it was easier. to me punching a brand new motor out is a wasted motor.

just my 2 cents worth.

If I were you I would go with a 416 kit. 11to1 compression, 450 carb, stage 2 cam, good full system, and a good port job on the head.
Maybe a few other little things like hd studs, better valve springs, and a bigger oil tank.

You could do all that for under 1500 if you buy wisely.

well you have already gotten some good advice on the engine mods. but one thing that your going to have to decide on is whether you want top speed or acceleration. engine mods alone wont make your quad go over 70 mph. only gearing will.
