My dad got an '04 z400 yesterday. All I have to say is it's pretty sweet;)

he wasn't sure if he was going to keep these rear tires at first, but they actually turned out to be very good trail tires. plus they hook up like crazy

It has a moose bumper and grab bar, moose handguards, dg alloy nerfs, gbc mud shark tires on the back, itp rims (can anybody tell from the pictures what model they are?), and a full Big Gun evo limited exhaust

I really like it, it's really fast and the ride is incredible. A nice thing is that the pipe is very quiet, I guess it's around 94 db's according to Big Gun

awesome dude hows the 400ex compared to your 250 =p ive never ridden a 400ex but i have ridden an 06 z 400 i suggest you guys buy the shocks from 05 or up there much better then 04 and below

Someday we will swap the tires around just to see what it's like, but my dad would rather sacrifice a little bit of power for traction. I have to admit I like the z better than the ex, but I'm still veeerrry happy with the 400ex. Aren't the '05 and up shocks on the z400 stiffer than the older ones? My dad is really just looking for comfort and these are working great so far

By the way, I will be getting klaws for the front of my 400 shortly, probably along with some nerfs.

i can answer that since my brother is in bed right now. by performance im guessing that you're talking about power.. the two are actually very different. im not exactly sure what a completely stock z feels like, but with a full system it absolutely rips for a 400cc machine. i dont think my 416 (which is a very mild 416) would even hold a candle to it in a straight line. the z is much smoother under full throttle acceleration, so it is kinda hard to realize how fast you're actually going. the ex's accelerate more "violently." i mean they vibrate a lot more, have a beefier low end, and it just seems very raw and unrefined compared to the suzuki. i like it that way. the only place my 416 with absolutely kill it is in low revs. the z is just much more powerful than my brothers new 400ex, but he hasnt had time to mess with it yet. :o sorry its so long.

yeh i like violent power to thats why i ride a 250ex  lmao jk i do like rough power though, i rode my buddies 06 z400 completly stock accept k&n filter outwares with lid on no rejetting, ill say a few things it sounded weird, it felt weird, i thought it vibrated pretty good i mean it was quick but i didn't like the type of quick it was or how the power came on

Yeah, the way the power comes on is definately different than anything else I have ridden. Low end isn't all that great, but mid range and top end it just screams compared to the ex's. My dad absolutely loves it though, having arthritis he got beat up a lot more on the 400ex than he does on the z. He said he barely feels bumps or drop off's anymore.

today I was a little bored, so I polished the motor mounts and painted the heat shield black. My front tires should be here sometime next week

Mine does sound pretty girly compared to my dads and brothers lol. When I do get a pipe it will be a quieter one though, I ride a lot around mine and my friends yard and I don't want to cause any trouble. I think I'm gonna order some DG alloy nerfs too.
